A Winter Romance Puns

Hi everyone!

I've recently been on a fantasy, romance and period drama kick lately. So far, I've gone through The Witcher, Outlander (I absolutely love this show!) and about half way through Game Of Thrones (I know it's on a different platform but I was gonna bet it would be the one to be suggested!). I've also seen The Spanish Princess and Reign.

Do you have any other suggestions? I prefer series but will be okay with movies!

A romance(?) movie where the couple runs away, I forget from what, and ends up freezing to death (or nearly freezing to death, I don't remember) in a run-down little shack of a house in the middle of winter. There's no heat and so little insulation that it basically doesn't matter.

I think the couple were poor, and hiding from family or the law or something. (But it wasn't "Far and Away", the 'running away in the winter' scene is different there.)

 

I think there's even holes in the roof, where the snow falls through, but I wouldn't use this to try and find it, I'm not even sure about that.

 

It's winter, there's snow everywhere, the shack is a distance from other buildings, and I think they're found eventually? But I remember so little that I wouldn't rely on anything but the first paragraph, tbh.

 

I saw the movie about 10-15+ years ago.

 

I've tried using IMDB's keyword search, but nothing I've found there has been familiar. Here's the keyword search I was using.

Asking you all since I can’t decide an answer to my own hypothetical question….

I’ve only recently started watching kdramas and completely fell in love after watching Crash Landing on You. Since then, I have watched Descendants of the Sun (also good and gripping but the plot was significantly less well-crafted) and Goblin (good plot and acting but I was a little bored during the first half). Any suggestions?

I am drawn to try The King’s Affection (is it any good?), Her Private Life, and maybe Hometown Cha Cha Cha. I am a mental health provider and would rather not watch a show like It’s Okay Not to be Okay after work.

The first snowfall of the season was quite a strong one, covering the frozen forest with a layer of white fluff. Sparkling flurries fell faster as the winds picked up. For the most part, the forest was empty... except for a man trudging through the nasty winter storm.

Lindo, the soldier sent to start the fight against an unknown evil was caught in the thick of the storm in the forest. His metal armor clashed and clanged with creeks here and there as it began to freeze over. His breathing became sharp as he took his two last steps before falling to his knees, the armor on the verge of being frozen solid from the hours of walking through the snowstorm.

"Is this why they sent me... to get rid of me? I'll just be another soldier lost in his travels." He told himself as he felt the frostbite eat away at his tips, the rest of the body to follow.

"I cant... I mustn't..." In a last attempt to find a place for refuge during the storm, he reached back with his weak hands and pulled his sword out. He stabbed it into the ground to pull himself up with the support he had. Even with his optimism, it would take a miracle to save him from the storm, or else he will be frozen there in the forest until someone found him and either looted him or burried him.

I was thinking I write up a little prompt based of a Fantasy setting and a snowfall (Mainly because it is really snowy where i am right now and I was effectively snowed in at work). I then made it a little crazy with my character, the handsome Elf soldier named Lindo being close to death.

Somehow someway, a beauty will come and save him. Is it a simple traveler that is better equiped for the cold? How about an cute Elf that lives out in the forest? Maybe a mage that is able to heat the two of them up enough before getting to a cave? The choice is yours and we can definately discuss it if you have more ideas.

Id love for this RP to be a nice mix between a burning romance and an action adventure story against this unknown evil. The frozen forest is just where we will start and we can definately discuss what this evil is, be it a creeping infection/ corruption of the Land or a Dark Lord Emerging.

Please let me know if you are interested in incorporating some NSFW or smut into our RP with the romance. It wouldnt just be for the sake of doing it but it would make sense with the tension building and stuff.

The usual , "I don't have time for boys , i never had" "I have my career to focus on" "I don't need distraction'' "I have it all planned out" and "I don't want to get distracted" "I have never been a party girl" blah blah blah.

I'm tired of reading these , instead give me a book with the heroine being the best friend of this types of FMC lol , the bestfriends of these heroines are often the ones who are wild and always had to drag the heroine to come to a party and always found saying "come on , live a little , it's college life"..

Don't get me wrong , i enjoy the usual types of heroines , but I want to see if there's any college romance where the heroine for once is the opposite.

And no , it doesn't mean I want that type of heroine who has always been a nerd but now wants to enjoy and experience the college life wildly. Trust me I have read a lots of them already. I am talking about heroines who has always been wild. You know the kind the best friends of these fmc's are? Yes those!.

And it's not like she has to be outright failing and not caring about studies but like it would be minimal and she is leaning wild towards "having fun"

Hello! This is my problem. I came to realize that I don’t feel womanly if there is no romance in my life. I feel not worthy or not good enough. If I talk to a man, or date him, if he is not romantic with me , it crushes me, the woman in me is bleeding inside of me. Don’t get me wrong, I am independent and successful. And men I date are some of the nicest people. But without that cheesy romance, I don’t feel worthy and I feel so hurt that I avoid human race for months. I tried to be like most men, have hookup s and no expectations but it really left me unfulfilled and unwanted. Any advice?

I’m a 24F, and I’m aroace. I have a new friend from the gym who’s a 22M. I enjoy talking to him, so last week I asked him to be my +1 to my holiday work party. It was a chance to get to know each other outside the gym. After the event, I felt a platonic emotional connection with him, at most. The other day, (over text) he expressed that he had feelings for me and that he wanted to go out on a date.

I responded saying that I’m down to hang out, but I’m not interested in a romantic relationship, so we could hang out as friends. He said that he’s “not interested in a friendship” and wished me the best. ✌🏽

So he’d really rather not have a bond at all if it can’t be romantic? I can still offer a friendship that’s rich and deep. A friendship can be just as important as a romantic relationship. Am I wrong for feeling rejected?

I don’t post on here much, I’ve just been a reader since 2015 or so. But I felt the need to give my little spiel, it’s long overdue lol. Look, I know there are a LOT of appreciation posts going on right now (it’s an exciting time). But the melody when Victoria sings,”You feel your heart break, and you don’t know why”, HITS me. Lyrically, musically, sonically. It’s just insane that these two still give me the same feeling I felt when I heard Levitation, or Dive for the first time. Maybe more intense..just from a small melody. It makes the whole track for me. This is what I strive to give people with the music I make. Give someone the good feeling I get when I hear a good song, and I feel Beach House are the masters of that. They are so in touch with their music and sound, it’s inspiring as hell. I think I might just start making a new song, I’ve been in a rut lately. These songs are pulling me out of that lull.

Waiting for more would be greedy, I’ve been wanting to buy a house and basically just got a free one. Enjoy the further gains while this paper handed bitch cries about the extra millions I could’ve made. I made a million with Doge earlier this year and had I waited one more day it would have been 7 million. I was bummed but looking back now, I’m happier that I have the money than I am sad that I don’t have more. So I’m sure when SHIB hits crazy numbers I will be bummed but hey!

I've been intrigued by the concept of a dark romance, however most of the stuff I've read so far are really not my cup of tea. There's a lot of power imbalance, usually the heroine is a total innocent while the hero is a ruthless/sadistic criminal, I think this is the part of what bothers me the most. I'd prefer her to be as ruthless and batshit as he is, and on an equal footing as much as possible. Maybe with her in a position of power over him too. I enjoy "beta" heroes in general so I don't mind the heroine outshining the hero! I realise this is very rare. I would like a mafia man/female assassin for example, or mafia man/mafia princess who is truly as ruthless as he is, if not more. Not just defiant, but ruthless and possessive towards him in a way that could even scare him like his darkness scares her.

Another trope in dark romances that I often see is that the hero torments/tortures the heroine and she endures because she's powerless to do anything else. By the end, she has shown him the error of her ways with her goodness and forgives him, so he is nicer to her. I'd love her to be more aggressive and vengeful in her attitude. If he abducts her for example, she's the type of woman that would stab him. Maybe she does stab him. Maybe she's the abductor. She could give as good as she gets. More cathartic for me.

I don't think I've ever come across of a romance novel like that so I'm not sure of anything comparable.

This is just my personal taste, I'd enjoy the darkness more if it was more of an equal darkness. No issue with anyone who likes the tropes I've described, just not my thing. Are there any dark romances with more equal relationships?

First time mom here, so this might be a really stupid question. My son has almost outgrown the bucket seat and will be switching to the convertible car seat soon. Why not add Nuclear Winter on rotation with custom worlds, and have CWs in a faster rotation. Maybe even with some sort of building competitions game weeks and other dynamic games. I use to play NW occasionally and I feel like NW was a lot more fun then CW. I hardly see anyone in CW, feels so dead.

I recently read The Count of Monte Cristo (TCMC) by Alexandre Dumas. It is my husband’s favorite book, and I decided choosing it as my book club book for this rotation would give me the accountability and structure needed to take this fucker down. SPOILERS AHEAD

For those of you who aren’t familiar, it was serialized from 1844-46, then novelized after the fact. Set between 1815 and 1839 in the Mediterranean, TCMC is about a young man (Edmond Dantes, or ED we’ll say bc of the EGREGIOUS LACK OF BONERS IN THIS BOOK) on the brink of a wonderful life - that is to say, a promotion at his boat job, marrying a super hot Spanish gal, and paying off his family debts - is wrongfully convicted of a heinous crime (being a Bonapartist) and loses everything. After spending fourteen years in jail (bc a crown prosecutor, whose dad is a Bonapartist that was involved in all kinds of things, decides to keep him buried in the prison system to protect his future career prospects), ED escapes, finds his old prison-friend’s secret treasure, spends about a decade doing mystery newly rich guy shit, and then decides it is revenge o’clock.

There are 3.5 guys responsible for fucking up ED’s life and his credit. Fernand, who was butthurt that he only got to be Mercedes’ (aforementioned hot fiancé) friend; Danglars, who was jealous of ED’s upcoming success at work; Caderrouse (the 0.5 guy), whose main crime was that he was drunk when the bad stuff was going on and didn’t stop it when shit went down; and Villefort, the crown prosecutor who could’ve gotten ED out of jail really quickly but worried that bc his dad was a big Napoleon fan that he couldn’t move up the social/job ladder any further if the exculpatory evidence got used to help ED.

Disguises, grotesque displays of wealth, and chess-not-checkers-level moves are made over the course of the ~900 pages when ED tries to get revenge. BIG SPOILERS He gets what he wants. Fernand loses his riches, his family (bc he married Mercedes, but more on that in a minute), his social standing. Danglars loses his complete fortune, his family, and his dignity. Caderrouse gets low grade revenge, redemption, then death after he keeps fucking up. Villefort is publicly humiliated, loses his job, and has everyone he loves die (basically).

In a shocking turn of events, Mercedes knew who he was the moment she saw him and basically lets him know by the end of his revenging that she never forgot him.
