I see whack-o is on bbc radio 4 extra again, I listened to it about 2 years ago for the first time and loved it. Shame they only have several episodes, the rest having been misplaced. Any other recommendations for fans of this sort of comedy/serial? Thanks
I just want to preface this by saying that I'm just venting onto a page, without going back to edit anything; so, if I repeat myself or fail to be clear at all, I apologize in advance.
My girlfriend (22) and I (21M) have been together for nearly 4 years, now. We've been through really rough phases in our relationship, but for the last year, we're at the absolute happiest we've been since we met! We've been working really hard at improving our communication, being better people, and knocking our school work out of the park. I'm so deeply proud of both of us that I can't help enthusing about that pride to her when we're together! Everything between her and I is just amazing to the highest of keys. Since we each live with our families still, we want to move in together, and even get married eventually, but living with our families is the trouble:
For context, she comes from an abusive family background. Her parents are obsessed with image and are heavily involved in their church, yet, the way that they treat her is far from virtuous, or what would be considered acceptable. For reasons that aren't very clear to neither her nor myself, she has always served as a "punching bag" of sorts for her immediate family. She is constantly bullied into covering chores for her sisters and her parents. One huge example that really pisses her (and me) off is the situation with her older sister's baby. In short, her sister (~24?) had an unplanned baby, and, since she is young and is no longer involved with the dad, she doesn't have much interest in or patience for taking care of the baby- which typically falls on my GF. GF's sister regularly just leaves, unannounced, to hang out with friends or do whatever, leaving the baby up in the air for someone else to catch. Since GF is made to take care of the child most of the time, she is constantly crunched for time when it comes to keeping up with school, to the point where it is severely impacting her grades, drawing out her time in school before she can graduate- which frustrates her to hell. Ironically, she is constantly hounded by her folks about how she's taking so long to finish school, when her older sisters have already finished, meaning, of course, that she must be a "lazy, incompetent girl." She is even shamed and harassed for choosing to have a job, because she "doesn't spend enough time at home." She works this job because she is paid a solid wage, they are very accommodating with her school schedule, and to work

What's an acceptable temperature I could try and negotiate with my flatmates? I think I'm the only one who understands the heating tbh (my Dad's a plumber). I think it should be at 18 degrees which is what I've moved it to as they've gone out drinking, idk if they notice its hot or not :/
