Turner's Outdoorsman Puns

Hello all,

I am new to this Reddit sub and had some questions as a first time gun owner. So on April 30 of this year, I went into my LGS to purchase a firearm. I took the FSC and passed, all that good stuff. I even paid for a firearm which was out of stock, so its a Layaway order. I believe there was about 15 people ahead of me at that location for the same firearm. Which leads me to my question; how long does it take, on average, for you to get a call that your firearm is in store? I am getting a bit impatient as I am new and don't know much about wait times. For reference, I purchased a Beretta Brigadier 92 FS. Should I cancel my order and look elsewhere or just hold tight? Is that gun good for a first time owner? Thanks in advance.

Anyone know when turners gets a restock, put in an order they said they have no clue when they'll get it. could he weeks could be months. Tried searching online couldn't find anything. Thanks

So let me start by saying, I'm not mad or disgruntled, just a little confused.

So I went to a turners outdoorsman here in southern california to do a private party transfer. I was buying a tacsol 10/22 receiver from an ad on calguns and we agreed to meet at this location to do the transfer. So I get there early and do some shopping, I need a buttstock for an axiom, they have like 6 packages on hooks that say, "featureless kit," and in the kit is the buttstock I want, there's a peg for it but it's full of the featureless kits. I look and everything in the kit is labled with a sku, everything is available individually so I ask a guy if I can break it open and buy just the stock, "No," and walks off. OK.. I literally ordered the same stock from midway for $10 less standing there. Whatev.

A little while later, I talk to the seller and he's 20 minutes away, I take a number and wait 10 minutes, they call my number and I explain to the (same)guy what's going on and ask him if I can get started on the 4473 to reduce the time the other guy has to wait around. The guy says, "No," and walks away, which I thought was kind of rude but didn't argue (I've learned, you can't argue with gun store employees). OK, I think, maybe this guy is just having a bad day, I laugh and shrug it off.

So this is where it starts getting odd. The seller shows up and meets me at the counter where we have to take another number and wait another 10 minutes, the (different) guy who's going to do the paperwork finds out that the seller didn't check the 10/22 receiver in at the desk and freaks out a little, seller and guy go to front desk to check it in, a few minutes later they call me over, the employee explains to me that I don't HAVE to do a transfer because it's an "upper receiver." So I set about explaining to him that upper, lower, doesn't matter, it's the registered part and it does need a transfer. Then the guy just changes lanes and tells me he can't transfer a bare receiver without a barrel, he says, "you could be building an SBR, I don't know.." I tried to put it into the context of an ar15 receiver and asked him if he would require a barrel to transfer a lower, he says, "We only transfer barreled receievers.." OK, now I'm fairly confused since you don't transfer an upper receiver and a lower can't be 'barreled,' but gain, I know better than to argue with a gun store employee so I get on the phone with my girlfriend who's a 40 minute drive away and ask her to bring m

Hello CA Guns peeps! I received a $600 gift card for my 30th birthday from my family & friends. They wanted me to put it towards a nice new rifle. Unfortunately, I am in desperate need of a new computer for work (I'm a new realtor starting out). As much as I would LOVE to buy a rifle right now, I figure I can always buy one after I sell a couple of houses.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Back then I remember the prices in these catalogs being about 10-20% higher than what they would cost in the local gun shops here in Los Angeles. If anyone used to live here, or still does, my go to shops where Pony Express (RIP), B&B Gun Sales (RIP), Turners Outdoorsman, which used to be called Andrews, and Gun World.

These would be the prices today if taking inflation into account.

Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
