A list of puns related to "Tough Love (TV series)"
Probably a comedy. US or possibly Canadian. The cowboy was tough - possibly a bandit. He wore black. His teddy bear was all he had from his childhood.
Heads up: This is gonna be a long post. I'm a comedian who is very fortunate to know some cast & writers who have been on the show, as well as knowing a lottttt of people who have come close or went through the audition process (myself included). So I thought it would be fun to let you guys in on just how difficult it is to even be seen in front of Lorne + name drop some incredible talent that almost made the show but slipped through the cracks.
First off - The Audition Process. You can get cast on the show a multitude of ways, but the most popular are having a series of auditions at the most notable improv, sketch, and stand up theaters. For improv and sketch you're looking at Second City Chicago, (formerly) iO Chicago, the Annoyance Theater, UCB, and Groundlings. For stand up I'm not as savvy at, but from what I've heard it's primarily the New York and LA clubs mixed with previous skills writing on shows. You can also audition as one of two things: Writer or Performer. This will determine how you want to form your audition.
It should also be noted that each of these places cater to a different set of skills. Groundlings is known for its characters and impression based comedians. Examples are Phil Hartman, John Lovitz, Kristen Wiig, Cheri Oteri, Will Ferrell, and current cast members Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman, and Mikey Day.
Second City is where you'll get an equal mix of writers and performers. Past cast include Jason Sudeikis, Tim Robinson, and current cast like Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong (all of which were mainstage cast members - already a feat in itself and can take some performers 10 years of touring work to get).
There are some exceptions to the rule as well, mainly those who have been acting for years or were on comparable shows. Kate McKinnon was scouted from the Big Gay Sketch Show, Kyle and Beck were scouted from their viral videos, Sarah Squirm was doing a pretty intense variety show that got cult status in Chicago, and Kenan was a child actor with very early comedic chops.
I don't know all the ins and outs of every places auditions, but here is just a taste of what the iO Chicago one was: iO has one of the biggest track records for casting out of all the theaters. Some of the titans of SNL have come out of there - Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, and so on. Over the years they dwindled it down and changed some things, but overall it's stayed relatively the same. You get 5 minutes... Just 5 minutes to show off yo
... keep reading on reddit β‘Thereβs something about pre cell phones, pre modern internet, seeing Duncan run around Paris and βSeacouverβ in a world not so divided.
I donβt know about you all, but work has been stressful, life has been tough. Rewatching the series and seeing Duncan face his past and using it to succeed in his future gives me optimism when I only face pessimism on my day to day.
Sorry for the weird rant! Itβs just I have no one I could share my love for Highlander for in my life, but having this community seemed like a place to share.
> "Bron has a gravitational pull. Everybody, the media, people that love him, people that hate him, people that love the Lakers, people that hate the Lakers. Everybody focuses on that, so any step in the wrong direction and people will just take that and keep grinding away on it. It's tough."
> "Everybody expects the Lakers to do great things especially with having a Big 3. Even with AD being out, they expect big things from him. I've played with Bron and we were under a lot of scrutiny as well in Cleveland and we had great expectations. People were saying Finals or championship or bust. Every little misstep or lose three in a row or hovering around .500, it's just a dozen different storylines, it's a soap opera. People always got to have stuff to talk about 24/7, 365 media presence. If not, you're not going to get your ratings. It's just a fact."
> "Like JJ said, he's the greatest player of our generation. And in the GOAT talks, people are going to follow his every move. So his team, if someone is underperforming or someone is messing up the Lakers season, so they say they are going to be the scapegoat."
Also talks about AD, Russ, and the current Lakers situation in this specific part of the pod.

English isn't my native language (not even my second language). But I do love to watch british series in english and if available with subtitles(not often the case somehow). Imagine my confusion when a unrelated looking 30 year old calls the older women character Mom. Because it didn't happen to often on my viewings (maybe Ma'am isn't that common) I was confused but I put it always aside as me being not attentive enough. Only with the magic of subtitles was I able to understand how much of an moron I was.

Well, it's out and there are some surprises. Visually it looks okay to pretty good. Space AK why.
However, almost all the dialogue points to this being the watered down version of Halo. I'm not very optimistic at this point.
So I guess that human girl was kind of an Axis Annie--calling for the humans to surrender, but she also seems to have command of what I assume are Lekgolo?
Between that "controllable" line from Halsey and the "What do you do with a superhuman you're not sure you can control" line, I really hope this doesn't become "Master Chief learns to rebel against the eeevul UNSC!"
Well, I gotta be honest, I'm not quite sure where to start. I'm BlackJack720 and I've been a Scream fan since I'm 14 but I've been serious about it this last year. During this time, specifically this Halloween, I decided to give the Tv series a chance. After finishing season 2 and realising I wanted to talk about my opinions with someone I thought about publsihing a personal review on this sub. This will be a long post and won't be the last as you can see in the title. This post is mainly to introduce myself, my idea and the series itself. I hope this post calls some atenttion and you end up liking these posts.
Disclaim: I gotta clarify I'm not a professional critic or anything like it, I'm just an 18 y/o who likes to analize too much what I watch. Also, this one will be spoiler free but next ones may not. Hope you like it.
So, Scream Tv series. This show was a shot from showrunner Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie to adapt our beloved Scream to a show produced for Netflix. This series' first season debuted on June 30 2015 and had some mix reviews, specifically about the new design and some acting. But, the thing is, what is this about?
I'm sure you all already know it but I'll explain it anyway. We're on Lakewood, a little town from the USA that has kind of a rocky history about slashers and mass murderers after being terrorized by Brandon James, a kid who was bullied because of his deformity, snapped and killed 5 people on Halloween 1994. Some years later, the town's dealing with another form of bullying and social murder after a video featuring two girls from George Washing High School getting intimate with each other gets published by some bullies. This event will be the trigger to a new series of a attacks from a masked killer who's really interested on some particular people from the town.
Now, something that's important to mention is the fact that the show has had 3 seasons so far with only the first two following the story I just mentioned and the third one being a reboot of the concept. Anyway, because the argument I just told you is the main one covered, I will talk about season 3's storyline when I talk about the season.
Our lovely cast for these two main seasons are a controverted topic on this fanbase, with lots of people loving them and lots of people really hating the cast. I will give my opinions on everyone when the time comes but lets make a general review of the main characters:
Cast
Hey lads, I'm a non-native english speaker and I'd like to know some British TV series that feature heavy British accent (e.g. Peaky Blinders, or Ricky Gervais').
You guys really do have the best accent, doesn't matter whether it's posh London or tough northern accent, I just love to hear it.
Thank you guys in advance! ( Ν‘Β° ΝΚ Ν‘Β°)
EDIT: maybe I haven't really explained myself, I'm looking for some peculiar thing, something that isn't watered down for international public or similar. Also heavy british humour is appreciated!
As per the post in question, OP explains that her parents (in a comment she notes she just turned 16) originally sold her ps4 due to poor grades. However, they recently got her a ps5 for her birthday after turning things around. While some applaud the improvement, others take umbrage with the parents initial action
"Your parents are assholes" - debate about this being tough love or abuse
"They're projecting their warped perception of failure on you"
"They made the right choice" "No they fucking didnt"
Implied here is β¦ no episodic series (eg Law And Order)
We enjoy Drama Crime, Nordic Noir, etc.
No SciFi or Fantasy Dramas
Subtitles are perfectly fine
Thanks
A TV adaptation cannot be 100% true to canon. They're different art forms. I see a lot of people getting really hung up on this, and I challenge you to really examine Harry Potter's success. Personally as an HP book fan, I'm stoked that there's more books, more movies, a freaking theme park, and people who love HP everywhere I go. And the adaptation did that. They adapted a beloved series for a wider audience, and Harry Potter grew as a result.
Now I understand many people's gripes are because we've already seen Master Chief's story. We've played the games, beat the Covenant, and read the backstory books. They want to see stuff we haven't seen. And I do too. But think about it from Hollywood's perspective:
Why would viewers want to see Some Random Halo Spinoff (That's Technically Canon) when they could see John Halo Himself (Slightly Changed from Canon)? They wouldn't want to see some side story (we might, but there's not even 100k members on this subreddit). The average viewer would way rather see Master Chief take on the Covenant! The Battle of Reach! The flippin' flood, man! That's the stuff that's gonna make more Halo fans. That's the stuff that's gonna make a show (if done well) get enough success to earn spinoffs.
And that's my big point. Why would the first studio to invest, let's not forget, hundreds of millions of dollars go for anything but the best Halo stories? If we're going to get more Halo, it's got to prove itself on TV first. And adaptation requires change. But if the adaptation is good, it can appeal to a wider audience, and Halo will grow as a result.
tldr: Announcing a cinematic adaptation of novels as not canon is a wild thing to get upset about, and while the show's story will retread old ground, it might pave the way for a future (we all want) with way more Halo stories out there.
Episodes 1-5 had me totally stoked. I was really excited that my favorite fantasy series was getting a decent adaptation. And then what the !@#$ happened those last three episodes? The series took a serious turn from decent adaptation to train-wreck. My main gripe was this whole "we'll take you all to the Eye to fight the Dark One and whoever isn't the Dragon is gonna die" with all the main characters being like, yeah alright that sounds fine to me. What justifies this? They had one Trolloc encounter and were all willing to throw their lives away for a Dragon that had zero prep/channeling experience? What the ever loving... Not to mention the travesty of whatever they did to Lord Agelmar/Loial/Moiraine stilling... come on. The sa'angreal ISN'T EVEN FAT.
Anyways. I might read EotW again just to reset my brain... So annoying because the justification for going to the Eye in the books, Rand's encounter at the Gap and everything else would have made so much more sense for the show to simply implement. :(
Something similar to Peaky Blinders, Hannibal or Breaking Bad would be ideal.
Edit: Thanks for the responses. After much careful consideration I have decided to go with The Wire
I don't know if this question has been asked before but I will ask it anyway. What movie do you think would have been better suited as a TV Series?
Some films try to cram wayyyyy too much into too little and feel overstuffed as a result, personally, I think the recent Matt Damon film Stillwater would have been better as a crime miniseries since there was just too much put into the film it felt overstuffed and questions were left unanswered
What films would you say?
Good morning, All!
I'm relatively new to the community and recently discovered that I get involuntarily agitated by the bubbly "you're a warrior", "be all you can be" style coaching and prefer a slightly more condescending, tough love approach.
Yesterday I found Kendal Toole and loved the fact that she was constantly pushing us to go harder and find that limit.
Are there any other instructors you have found to have a similar style? Any that I should stay away from?
Thanks!

So my brother tonight is sitting down to watch Star Wars IV with his son for the first time and we were talking about shows that we wish we could see again for the first time.
So I ask you, what is the one TV series you wish you could rewatch but with fresh eyes for the first time?
