Some arguments are won by action,not words.
As LGBT Christians we have no need to argue,at least not to ourselves.
We shouldn’t need to have to claw for security within ourselves, to know we are loved by God as much as any other human being. We shouldn’t have to suffer and hide to find a place within the body of Christ. Sadly there are walls. Walls of rigid doctrine, fundamentalism, biblical literalism which keep us LGBT from finding our rightful place as secure, loved and accepted children of God.
We feel we either must lay siege by way of argument or we chart our own course in the wilderness,much like the Israelites did in the story of Jericho.
On that, during prayer I was inspired as to what we can we infer as LGBT Christians to knock down the walls within ourselves and around us,let’s consider specific aspects of the Israelites strategy:
The Silence,none of them were allowed to speak until the seventh day. So we mustn’t argue on the basis of clobber passages,for those who employ these verses use them to squelch debate.
They have no interest in historical facts ,these people live behind a curtain of comfortable ignorance. It is their own personal temple veil between themselves and God.
So we don’t need to argue. We don’t need anyone’s permission to be ourselves.
Which leads me to my next point
The Walk,the Israelites simply walked around , probably bewildering those who watched on the walls
We should all aim to live lives which bear the fruit of Gods indwelling presence within us. While they begrudgingly donate canned peas every thanksgiving and gossip around the cookie table at bible study, we should be out there, helping the broken, and reconciling the lost. The people like us who they judge and refuse to help.
When they come against you per your “sinful lifestyle,”you can simply say “he whose forgiven much loves much,”
When they try to shame you,let your good deeds put them to shame.Again there’s no need to argue here. Actions speak louder than words.
And no action has ever spoken louder than of Christ’s finished work on the cross ,next point-
The Ark-the Israelites carried the Ark of the Covenant with them. We are Sons and Daughters of God by faith in Christ. We must be sure of this fact inside of ourselves. The new covenant states that we have Gods laws written on our minds and hearts, we can know God personally and all our sins are forgiven.
When you stand secure on this foundation,nothing can shake you. No amount of belittling
