Pure speculation and an idea I got after seeing both the new Miles Morales game plus the new Ratchet and Clank.
Miles Morales is not a full game and I doubt with the first ones success they wouldn't release a full fledged second game. With the 2nd movie not being released until 2022 it makes sense for them to release the game around the same time. They also then have a game released every 2 years.
My main reason I think this is happening is seeing the new Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. It's major thing is jumping through dimensional rifts seamlessly. Which is similar to what happens in the first Spider-Verse movie and multiple heroes get mixed up from their dimensions.
I think with this it's almost a no brainer that this is what Insomniac is shooting for. They might just use the same theme but create their own story like the first game but I have a feeling that in the end the dimensional rifts are a big clue to what's coming.
I won't be disappointed in something else because just like the 1st one I feel I'm going to love the next 2 releases no matter their direction.
Hear me out. There actually are a couple things I'd like to have seen been included from TASM 2 into this game.
Burning building rescues - I think this would be a good random crime that you can do, save people from a burning building. But it would be one that doesnt come up often.
Being able to perch on flagpoles - Just for cool photos xD

I remember playing the movie games and wondering why they would bring in villains that weren't in the movies. Overtime I realized that I loved fighting Mysterio. The whole aspect of the Mysterio missions were amazing. This is my first time learning about this villain. Watching Far From Home really impressed me because I was able to see Mysterio on the big screen and it was not a disappointment at all. I really want to play Spider-man 2 right about now.
I swear that he uses it in an intro to one of his videos, I've spent a couple hours trying to find it but haven't had any luck.

I just picked up Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and they do the whole attach your web to thin air deal. The way they did it in Spider-Man 2 just felt so right (I'm sure there are others that did it like this but Spider-Man 2 is the one that comes to mind first).
^ I found an adapter to use my DS4 with my game cube and it's been a while but I don't remember it being that clunky but nostalgia is a powerful thing.
