A list of puns related to "Special use domain name"
My name ends with a special TLD that would make it look like this:
firstnamelastna.me
Do you guys like that? Or rather firstnamelastname.com?
Say if your production site lives at domain.com is it ever a good idea to have staging setup using the same domain such as stage.domain.com for example or should you always use a separate domain name for all things staging?
What's the best way to use a single domain name (purchased from Google Domains, with DNS ideally on Cloudflare) for accessing my selfhosted server over both my LAN and WAN?
For devices on my home wireless network, I want the domain to resolve to a 192.168.0.0/16
address.
For other devices, I want the domain to point to Cloudflare's Argo Tunnel, which will forward to the same device but will bypass the router, allowing secure external access without needing port forwarding.
I'd rather not tunnel everything through Cloudflare's Argo Tunnel if possible, because on the home network, connecting directly to the server will be much faster.
Was I clear enough? Any idea the best way to achieve this?
Is domain name, and the usage of https, necessary to make Wireguard secure? I am using it just by public IP but I am afraid this could reduce security to the point Wireguard would be useless.
Why YSK: Domain Registrars such as GoDaddy.com have been known to be shady and purchase websites people search for shortly after they search for them.
To purchase a website bought by a Domain Registrar you will need to go to a bidding war with them. Bidding typically starts at $199 and to submit an offer you typically need to use an agent to do the bidding on your behalf, starting at $19.99 per bid and the agent also requires 20% of the purchase amount as commission.
Solution
Using a neutral domain registration lookup tool like https://whois.icann.org/en, you can safely verify if the domain exists, who if anyone has purchased it and when. Then if you decide to purchase it, do it in one lookup on the same day.
Edit: removed namecheap.com as they are legit. Issue seems to be with godaddy.com.
I've seen some people use IP address and others use domain name when using the ping command. Which one is the proper way?
Here is an example

Ive been resistant because, hey, why fix what isn't broken...but just wondering if I am missing something/if there are any cost differences.
I know there is a .local special use domain for local area networks, but it would be very beneficial to have a .lan designation as well.

Edit: Yes I know this is the ICANN subreddit but /r/IANA does not exist.
Context:
I want to create a small online newspaper name- 'The Company Name.' Branding and everything will be with 'The'.
In this scenario what is the best SEO practice for domain name? With 'The' or without 'The'

Exactly as title.
When setting up some web apps and anything from Turnkey Linux, it will at some point during the setup ask for a domain. I don't have one and am not intending to attach one to my app in any case.
Do I seriously have to get a domain name for the app to work? I just want it accessed via it's IP and ports.
And if I do, does that domain name now belong to the app until I switch it?
Thanks for your time.
So in short, I am trying to set up something where there is a "compute" instance(some variety of C or M instance, basically whatever is cheapest as a spot instance at the moment) that accesses my t4g instance that runs all the time via sshfs/SFTP for storage. My question is, will AWS route my data in a way where it doesn't leave the region if I just refer to the t4g instance by its forward facing IP? This would generally make my life easier but I'm wondering if i'll end up with a giant egress bill for it.
Fed up with spam in my current gmail and iCloud addresses, I have been wanting to create my own personalised domain name for me, my partner and possible future children to use.
I donβt really know a lot about this stuff, so I have a number of questions.
Is the domain protection worth paying for? At this point, Iβm only planning on using the domain for emails.
Do I need to pay for the email service? It includes 5 gigs of storage which I wouldnβt need because as I understand it, linking it to my iCloud account will use my iCloud storage
I know the feature isnβt available yet, but I wanted to secure the domain beforehand. Thanks in advance.
Specifically voicelines that go "You should do it like this." and "You missed a spot!" - I've never gotten them before. Once I pulled Childe and used him in the domain for kicks, both of those lines popped up, seemingly only activating when Childe was on field for me. Unlike the other voicelines that are, you know, attached to specific attack patterns, these occurred fairly randomly. Possibly at my Riptide procs? Neither of the lines are in the official wiki page for the domain, either.
I'm just really baffled about this. But honestly, it's straight up hilarious if Childe really just has special lines solely for the sake of dissing himself. Perfectionism? Or identity crisis? Go figure.
Has anyone else gotten these lines? Are they just a random add-on that I didn't notice before? Please tell me I'm not losing it :'D
