One of the best trends we've seen in fantasy and science fiction in recent years is the explosion in accessibility of non-Western fantasy and speculative traditions entering the global English language market.
For those not familiar with him, Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki is a Nigerian SF/F writer and editor who has been doing amazing work to showcase African speculative fiction. He's won the Otherwise (formerly Tiptree) and British Fantasy awards and been nominated for the Nebula, Locus, and others. He edited the first Year's Best African Speculative Fiction anthology (review in Locus), the award-winning anthology Dominion with Zelda Knight, and is editing the upcoming Tor anthology Africa Risen with Knight and Sheree RenΓ©e Thomas (current editor of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, best known for the Dark Matter anthologies).
The Year's Best African Speculative Fiction, which contains fiction from both African writers and writers from the African diaspora, rightly made a splash in the field, and I enjoyed listening to Ekpeki's recent interview on the Coode Street Podcast. He has in the past detailed issues he's had as a Nigerian in this industry, from being unable to use PayPal to people not respecting African names.
Today, Oghenechovwe Ekpeki posted this thread on Twitter about a really messed up situation with Amazon. Ekpeki published the anthology through a press he set up, Jembefola Press, and so put it on Amazon himself. He was told he'd receive the accrued royalties in January (which he was waiting on to be able to finish paying contributors), over $2000 so far. On December 31, Amazon emailed him to say they were shutting down his account because he either had multiple accounts and/or his account was "related to" a banned account. He has no idea what they're talking about and they've refused to clarify in follow-up. They're saying all the royalties are forfeited.
It's a really messed up situation and goes to show yet another reason why we should be concerned with Amazon's growing dominance of the book market. Hundreds of people got this anthology through Amazon to read ex

I follow an instagram account for women who hike, and specifically for women who fall outside the "normal" range of hikers including women of color, gay women, larger women and women with disabilities. I messaged the moderator of my local chapter and described myself, including my age, to ask if it was appropriate that I join and she was immediately like YES there is absolutely no qualification at all in fact, everyone can join, that's the point!

So we recently had snow in my area of the mountains and the meetup group posted an ad for a snowshoe hike up a mountain. I signed up for it, because I've been dying to hike in the snow this season and I'd love a group to go with. And then the person who initiated the hike said it was specifically for women 18-49. I am 51. I messaged her and asked if it was still okay if I attended the hike, and she asked me to please respect the boundaries and not come, as I fell outside the age range they'd stated.
Apparently several other women over 49 had gotten the same message, and they had asked for specifics about why this boundary had been set. And their reply was "because women under 50 have a different set of life interests. perhaps you'd be more comfortable arranging your own hike for women over 50."
I then scrolled the list of hikes from the last year - all of 2021 - and all of them specified 18-49 as the age limits. And it's not about mobility - several members are in wheelchairs and have mobility challenges, so all hikes come with mobility level scales and warnings and limits. It's just "age related life interests" that are specified as limiting.
Ageism is still so rampant that even in an 'outsiders' type group, I'm still not welcome? I'm really sad about this. I don't know what life interests I'd have while hiking that are different than me at age 49? Are we all living together as sister-wives at the top of the mountain? Why is ageism still socially acceptable? What do they think I'd talk about that would alienate me from ot

I saw it. I know you all saw that shit. GameStop and NFTs have been a thing for 6+ months. That shit, that shit right there was a pure fuck you to you and I. Having to enable the actual setting of pre-market and or after hours trading AGAIN leaves retail at a disadvantage.

update I was able to notify my bank. They stated the ach to CB was still pending and weβre able to put a stop to it. Waiting for it to return to account now. I was also able to shut down and re authenticate cb account. Waiting to login. Then maybe I can dispute charges.

Description of Original Problem: Computer monitor will black out and I reasonably believe that the issue stems from the GPU. The GPU has LED lights on it to indicate the % of its cores are being used, i.e. I'll see one LED on when browsing the internet and of course 9-10/10 of them shine red during gaming. I also have MSI Afterburner's overlay display near 100% usage in games. However, I suspect the GPU power spikes or something because anything can happen in game (usually FFXIV these days) and the thing shuts off. No on-board LED lights are on and my monitor immediately turns to black. Sometimes the shutoff is accompanied by the GPU fans revving up to 100%.
Troubleshooting: Here's a list of what I've tried:

New DisplayPort cable from the list of approved ones (https://www.displayport.org/product-category/cables-adaptors/) and I've alternated which ends of the cable go into the monitor vs. GPU. No difference.

Taken off the GPU shroud and re-applied thermal paste. Better temps as a result, but no change to my issue. (Rests at 72C~ during the most intense bits of FFXIV, but GPU usually sits at 65-70C at other moments and in different games)

Messed with undervolting/overclocking to no avail. My custom tunings can be found in this imgur album, but I've found that doesn't improve my situation. I've also tried using the presets found in Adrenalin, i.e. the Balanced and Power Saver modes and found that the GPU will crash even using those.

Upgraded my PSU from a FSP Dagger 600W Mini ITX to a Corsair SF750W Platinum, and in upgrading used two separate cables for the GPU instead of the branched one. This "upgrade" hasn't improved the issue at all.
I'm at a total loss here. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions or help, even if it is just to say to grab a new GPU.
My mom and I got in an argument while she was driving me to school and she grabbed me by the shirt as I got out and tried to take my phone (bc she wanted to punish me; Also she ripped two buttons off my shirt so I basically had my tits out). She continued to make a massive scene in front of the school and finally one of the teachers stepped in and helped me get to class. After class I find out that my cell service had been shut off and I canβt text or call anyone to get a ride so I walked home and realized I am locked out bc I donβt have my house keys. I knock a bunch of times and wait out there for like 30 mins and my grandpa (who can barely walk btw) wakes up from sleeping to open the door for me. I know she heard me knocking on the door because the bathroom light was on and shes not fucking deaf. She plans to turn the wifi off too somehow.
