Can someone please explain everything about shovel shaped incisors?
Which ethnicities have them and which don’t. Does the gene connect to other traits? I’ve read multiple articles and forums and now I am confused cuz of various answers and definitions.

Is it common to perform a preventive filling on shovel shaped incisors?
I had a dentist appointment last week and was told for the first time that I have shovel shaped incisors. My dentist explained that it is easier to get cavities in these than in normal incisors and recommended filling them now to avoid cavities there in the future since that often involves a much larger procedure. I have never heard of shovel shaped incisors and on a quick Google search, I was unable to find anything about preventive fillings. Is this a common practice? Should I consent to the fillings or decline?
Also, my dentist noticed some receding gums and thinks I'm probably grinding my teeth at night. I don't understand how grinding my teeth can cause gum recession, but I know it does commonly occur. Can someone please explain?

I posted earlier about my left incisor not sitting well and had a reply that the tooth just looked like it needed bonding. Is it considered abnormally shaped? Is that what bonding is for? Just started my treatment last Tuesday. I was born without a lateral incisior on my right side and a peg shaped incisor on the left, that I had crowned years ago. Just got invisaling. My Ortho shaved my teeth without telling me. I feel like he ruined my lateral incisor. I know the gaps are normal to make space. 11 months. 7 more to go (hopefully). My lateral incisors seem to be moving back again as we work on my bite with elastics. But I’ve also read that they are the most resistant to moving so hoping to see progress later down the line. Braces at 30 ain’t that bad y’all!
