A list of puns related to "Sadie (The Cleaning Lady)"
I started teaching recently, and on my second day at work met the cleaning lady, clearly Latina with a thick accent. I introduced myself to her and exchanged some pleasantries, and after a few sentences finally worked up the courage to say βhablas espaΓ±ol?β. Her eyes lit up and she started blasting me with Spanish I couldnβt quite understand, but when I asked her to repeat herself she obliged, much more slowly the second time. Since then we talk almost every day after school, she talks slowly so I can understand, and I do my best to speak as much as I can, broken and slow as my Spanish may be. Sheβs such a mom that she treats me almost like her own son, saying things like βeres muy inteligente!β and βtu mamΓ‘ deberΓa estar muy orgullosa!β, and then today in English: βyour grammar is better than mineβ.
I know sheβs just flattering me, but it touched my soul either way.
A maid with mematic.
He was telling me that he's going to report me to my manager then I said okay sir have a good day and left.
I lost my mom unexpectedly at the end of January. I went to have some dental work done today at our family dentist, and when I was done, the front desk lady (who is super sweet) told me to tell my mom she was due for a cleaning because they left her a couple messages and she didn't get back to them.
So, here I am with a sore mouth (it was a crown, and they apparently dont use novacaine?) and I had to tell this lady that she had died. She was only 59, so of course everyone asks what happened. I wish I could tell them something besides "she fell asleep and never woke up and we don't know what happened." I told her the whole story and then the tears started coming.
It's just so surreal for me to think of a world where she doesn't exist anymore. She apparently still existed in the world of the dentist and it's odd to think of how many places you exist....your job, your dentist, your church, your favorite bar....and then you just....dont. I still dont feel like it's real.
Every night I have dreams about her. When it first happened, they were nice dreams about her just being present and doing normal, every day things. Now, they've gotten very dark and it scares me, although it's not like anything can happen because she's already dead.
I'm constantly thinking about death now-the finality of it all, the mortality, the fact that at any moment you can be fine and then just...not.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm saying here or even what I'm looking for, but in any event, sobbing in the dentist's office wasn't really how I wanted to spend my Tuesday afternoon.

My girlfriend's parents are divorced and I haven't seen her mother in a while, I had completely forgotten her face. My girlfriend has a cleaning lady that goes once or twice a week to do basic chores and sometimes even cooks. One day I got to her house and the door was open so I just walked right in. I saw a woman standing in the kitchen cooking lunch and I wasn't even thinking well so I kinda just looked at her and kept walking. When I got to my girlfriend's room I asked if they contracted a new cleaning lady and the mother just shows up behind me and says "nope, I'm her mother". I felt extremely embarrassed and didn't even look at her. I still think about it a lot and it's always super awkward when we go out or go to an event with her mom.
TL/DR: Mistakenly called my girlfriend's mother a cleaning lady and doomed my relationship for life.
