Cliquish... RP group?

So I've joined a roleplaying community recently, and it's been feeling a little hard to get into. Essentially, it revolves around us being refugees from a broken land and colonizing a new continent, along with the threats on the new continent.

It seems very hard to get involved in anything. Most of the action seems to revolve around the older players, particularly the "Mayor," our assistant gamemaster.

The Mayor and the rest of the town government tend to stick to themselves and only roleplay with each other. Usually, there are a lot of incidents happening around town, and the government deals with somehow, but it's so difficult to get involved in anything other than a menial task in-game, like cleaning the stables or tending the fields.

A major plot event by the gamemasters, like a character death or major problem, and it's sensitive information that should stay within the government. A character-driven thing, and it's a personal matter, because those characters are reserved and slow to trust: a family matter, since the Mayor is related to everyone in the government in-character (the 7 of them came from the same in-character hometown and grew up together, he is married to 3 of them)

I've tried interacting with them and getting involved, but what usually happens is 1) It's bogged down in so many layers of formality (e.g. good day, sir, how are you? "Oh, fine as always. Government matters as usual. Good tidings to you. This is confidential.) 2) I am let into the scene reluctantly, but I'm ignored and the 7 people pay attention only to each other

I understand that cliques can form, but when it's an assistant gamemaster and people in roles so important to the game, it... feels a little off? My experience is mostly just living slice-of-life with other new players, swapping backstories while doing chores and enjoying simple pleasures, while I feel like I'm just waiting for my turn to ACTUALLY play while the gamemasters play with the Mayor and his clique. I can't do anything other than "hello, how are you?" or "I want to open a new tavern!" since every plot event has to run through a gamemaster, who "don't run events for specific players."

Is this how it's supposed to be?

This is gonna be short, and not really a bad rper story, but this literally just happened like 5 minutes ago and I needed somewhere to vent.

Earlier today I joined a roleplay website and put my Discord handle in my bio in case anyone preferred to reach out on there. A few minutes ago (as I'm writing this) someone sent a friend request, and I accepted as I'm assuming where they saw my user.

Straight away, after accepting their friend request, they sent me a message along the lines of 'hello, I'd like for you to join this group rp' then proceeded to send me links to two different servers (bearing in mind, they didn't even ask if I was interested, they just went ahead and sent me the links)

I simply responded saying, 'Hi, I don't partake in group roleplays' and instantly they replied with just 'lame'

Instantly blocked them, I had no interest in their rudeness - first, they don't ask for my permission to send server links (which I didn't appreciate at all), and then when I respond in a polite manner they call me lame.

I'm sorry, I just don't understand how I can be 'lame' for not wanting to do something where I've had bad experiences in the past. If anyone can give me a reasoning behind this, please do.

I am a DM that has 4+ years of experience, most of which is homebrew. I have a few games I run in person but I am looking for an online group that can consistently play once a week.

Preferable 3-4 players; up to 5 if everyone keeps the game running and shares the spotlight.

New to experienced players accepted; 18+ only.

I would like to have as diverse a group of players as possible. LGBTQ+ friendly, must be tolerant, and accepting of others.

Role-play and storytelling are my favorite parts of RPGs, but I also love combat, working together, and having plenty of laughs at the table.

I mostly use RAW/RAI, but that's just my DM style, and I'm fine playing in games with more lax rules.

I'm interested in being a DM or player, and open to taking turns as well.

Looking to play all kinds of different campaigns/one-shots.

I would love to eventually stream/record sessions, once I find a group with good chemistry.

I have recently grown interested in RDR2 rp after watching Vertiigo Gaming’s RDR2 Role Play series. Unfortunately I don’t own a pc so I have been looking for an active group/discord server to dip my toe in the rp world, but this is proving to be difficult. I'm a DM of nearly 8 years looking to embark on a new journey after my last campaign came to it's conclusion. Specifically, I am looking to run an all Fem group! Right off the bat, this includes ANYONE who identifies on the feminine end of the spectrum - TERFS need not interact. This includes non-binary identities, trans ladies, and Cis folk! About the DM!
Yo! I'm an eighteen year old DM who has been running/playing games since the wee age of ten. I've seen and done a LOT in my years of running, but this is the first time I've run a game solely filled with fem people! I'm Non-Binary (AFAB and fem-presenting) and I cannot begin to share some of my experiences as a Player. Especially in my earlier years it was very difficult to be a (then) woman playing D&D - and after a recent poor experience I have decided I want to create something fun with people with similar experiences.

It's my goal in every game to make people feel intently about the game.. be that making them angry, sad, or happy!
