Alrighty so, my skin is kinda hard to call clear but it's definitely not acne infested.

I only have like a couple spots of acne on my chin, and forehead.

I am sure it's from the gel and hair products I use on my hair. But I absolutely cannot and will not stop using them, I need something to make my afro look better.

My cheeks are clear and my nose is too, it's just my forehead.

Any tips on how to get rid of pomade acne? I want to become fully clear of acne.

Sorry if this has been answered before but YouTube isn’t giving me many answers. I have fairly clean skin, I’m in my 20s so I still get acne from time to time but I’m generally not prone to acne when using the right soaps. However anytime I decide to start using pomades/clays/gels I get good results for about 3 days then break out in the worst forehead acne I’ve ever had in my entire life. And it happens every single time I start using products. My hair is a thick mess and I like styling it I know how to, I just don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of trying multiple products and failing then being forced to give up again. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ll take any suggestions low-high hold, low-high shine anything in between.

Title says it all, what pomade would you recommend for someone with acne prone skin? Looking for a product thats not too shiny aswell.

What is your favorite pomade that doesn't break you out. I've tried both water based and oil based pomade, however it seems like I still breakout from it even though I wash my hair and face every night. Any suggestions? Thanks

Been greasing a while with heavy petrolatum based pomades. It's the only type of product that will hold my hair all day in the style I want. Love the fact that I can restyle and that it wont wash out if my hair gets a little wet.

However my pores are getting terribly clogged lately since I exercise with it in (buildup). Any alternative products or ways to mitigate this?

I used to use Daimon Barber Classic Pomade (can see their original packaging in the header image there, one of guys that started that company used to cut my hair), now I use Uppercut Monster Hold.

Hey r/Pomade, recently I just realized that I have developed a lot of pimples on my scalp. I went to the school nurse and she concluded that it could be the pomade I am using right now (Suavecito Firme Hold) that is causing it.

Are there any better pomades that has a strong hold and is great for sensitive scalps? I'm looking at a pomade by Flagship Pomade co. now but I am still confused.

I was wondering if anyone here has gotten acne from using oil based pomades. I recently started breaking out after using goon grease. Although I'll shower to try to get some of it out, there is still buildup when I got to bed. I'm wondering if the leftover buildup in combination with my pillow may be the possible culprit. However, it is entirely possible that it is just my hormones kicking in.

I’ve picked up a ton of skincare and makeup (ok mostly makeup 😋) products over the last few months and wanted to share my thoughts on some of them! These are all things I’ve been using for a minimum of a month.

Quick info about my skin - 30 years old with normal to dry, somewhat sensitive skin. I battle hormonal acne and subsequent post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) and hyperpigmentation (PIH). My skin tone is light and leans more fair in the winter and more medium in the summer. Neutral/slightly peach undertones.

Skincare:

Fresh Kombucha Cleansing Treatment 5/5 - this has become my HG cleanser for mornings! I hate washing my face in the morning and this has been perfect - just throw some on a cotton pad, wipe, and I’m good! I’m almost through my 2nd bottle and just got a 3rd for backup.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner 5/5 - I’d only used active toners (Glow Recipe AHA/PHA Watermelon, Ole Henriksen Dark Spot, etc.) so I wanted to try a hydrating one for my dry somewhat sensitive skin and this did not disappoint. Good price, great product. Will repurchase.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads 4/5 - I’ve used these off and on for years and I mostly just enjoy the experience. They haven’t really done much for facial texture (I do use Farmacy Honeymoon Glow 2-3x a week for that!) but these pads feel so refreshing in the morning, especially if my skin feels extra dull. I will probably keep repurchasing these and using intermittently.

Herbivore Emerald Oil with CBD 3/5 - I’ve only been on a skincare regimen for about a year now so I’m still figuring out what my skin likes and doesn’t like. I’ve discovered most oils are pretty meh for me. I like this oil, it is nice and hydrating, but I don’t think it has particularly done anything incredible for my skin. May work great for others but my skin is indifferent to it. So I will not be repurchasing.

Krave Great Barrier Relief 5/5 - I know this isn’t Sephora but I purchased this about a month ago and I truly think it’s been a major contributor to clearing up my skin! I struggle with hormonal breakouts on my chin and residual PIH/PIE. I’ve been using this religiously and I went a good 2 weeks without an active breakout. And now they seem to be milder too. Time will tell but I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb 4.5/5 - picked this up mostly because I love hippos and got the limited edition haha. But I’ve really loved this

Hey all,

I like to have my hair slicked back tight. (Shaved sides and longer on top)

Hair is about 5-6 inches long, past my mouth & ears when dry.

I've been struggling to find the right product for a long time.

I guess I'm super meticulous about my hair.. I don't like any flyer hairs, or for it to be out of shape etc. I want it to stay down all day long and not have to worry about it at all.

Here is a Pic of my current hair

Right now I use a combo of American crew heavy hold and hairspray to keep and flyers from popping up.

I put in my pomade with lightly damp hair (so it doesn't pull too much).

Any suggestions? I've used heavy oil based in the past which works awesome BUT it doesn't do well on the scalp or if I slept with it in, ruins pillow cases and clogs the pores on my forhead/ face.

Wouldn't mind an oil again if it didn't give me all the acne lol.

I have tried probably around 15 different oil based pomades in the last 9 months ( (i find water based pomades don't suit my hair) trying to find one that wont break me out, so here it is, its called - Three Flowers Brilliantine Solid Pomade. Figured this might help someone who loves oil pomade but is getting acne. This pomade has a light hold, is very hard to wash out of hair and has a medium shine. Tbh its not the best pomade, but considering it wont break you out, ive come to terms with its slightly below average qualities. The reason it wont break you out is because it only uses 2 ingredients, vaseline (which is non comedogenic) and a fragrance. Hopefully this helps someone.

Hello and welcome to a thread of reviews of the European sunscreens I have used throughout a year! Sunscreens are pretty hit or miss, but I like to test new ones whenever I can. I have a bunch of sunscreens to recommend, some of you maybe already used them, for some of you they may be a new discovery. Either way, I would like to talk about them, recommend some great ones and keep you away from those terrible ones. All of the sunscreens here are fragrance-free.

Rating system:

I use full scores and three fractions:

.25 - a consolation prize, there are some things that are great I can't let go unnoticed

.5 - pretty straight-forward, a score and a half

.75 - that means that the sunscreen was close to a higher score but there was some stuff I didn't like and I couldn't rate it higher

Face Sunscreens:

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Anti-Shine SPF50+ PA++++: great sunscreen. If you have normal/oily skin, it’s perfect, leaves your skin very matte so you can touch your skin and it doesn’t feel pasty or greasy. Doesn't sting your eyes too, even with re-applications. I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin types. The application is on the tougher side because it dries out quickly, but it's not terrible, it's relatively easy to apply. There's no white cast. All La Roche-Posay sunscreens have excellent filters too, because La Roche-Posay is owned by Loreal, that has an access to their exclusive Meroxyl filters. So you don't need to worry about UVA or UVB protections - they got them covered. If you live in the UK, it is worth to seek out this sunscreen in Boots, I can often find it much cheaper than what it usually goes for (which is £17.50, like with other LAP sunscreens). Overall, I recommend it. 4.5/5.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Shaka Fluid SPF50+ PA++++: this is an excellent sunscreen, sinks beautifully into the skin, no white cast and it doesn't sting eyes. I would confidently say it's my holy grail, I repurchased it so many times and it rarely has let me down. Leaves your skin looking very natural and the application is so easy. Be sure to shake it before using it and be careful, cause it is pretty liquidy. Downside is the price and the tendency to run off from your face when it's very hot outside. Therefore it's 4.75/5.
