As other commentors have mentioned, the questions seem heavily skewed.
Hello, I'm just here asking a few questions about your thoughts on Scottish Independence and referendums and whatnot.
Thanks.
Might be being stupid but I can only find recent polls asking whether you would vote for independence today, as opposed to the hypothetical would you vote for independence if the UK leaves the EU.
Let me know if there's a better subreddit for this question @mods.
non-scottish people: what are your opinions on the prospect of scotland becoming an independent country? it's quite a big deal over here and i would like to know what people from other countries think :)
The Scottish government has decided to take a poll on the populations views on the questions regarding Scottish independence and autonomy. The people will be asked to rank several options on the future of Scotland according to how much they favour them. The options are:
Status Quo
Further autonomy, but not full fiscal autonomy
Full fiscal autonomy
Independence
[M] First roll will be for independence, and then further rolls will detemine the popularity of the other options.
For independence, the RNG will determine the deviation from 50% support for independence, so a 20 would make it 60%, while a 1 would give 41%. 50% is being used as the baseline since there is likely to be a general trend towards independence since the younger generations are the most in favour of it.
Is it inevitable? Do you think itβs necessary? Would you consider it a loss for the UK?
How could Scotland support itself financially?
Just skimmed through HoC library briefing paper 06625 and saw that Scotland generates 65.2B before north sea profits (7.9% total UK tax revenue) but spends 81B (9.2%). This equates to a 20% deficit. Could someone explain to me without bias how the case can be made for an independent Scotland or point me in the direction of some info...
