A list of puns related to "One red paperclip"
>Ibaka --> Dipo, Sabonis, Ilyasova
>Ilyasova + 1st --> Jerami Grant
>Dipo/Sabonis --> PG13
>PG13 --> The Clippers' haul
>Grant --> 1st rd pick
>So, over time, Ibaka netted into 5 1sts, 2 1st swaps, SGA and Gallo.
Back in the mid-2000s I remember being interested in this project:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_red_paperclip
It was hugely popular at the time and it was really interesting to watch unfold. I'd like to propose a similar project for the crypto community in the hopes of
My idea: https://fromnanotobitcoin.com/
What is it?
The idea is fairly simple: I have already funded a wallet with one(1) NANO token, of which the wallet address is published on the site.
https://www.nanode.co/account/xrb_1x95di5ks3us969u3tsjy814knrsc4cqm8k64xhej49b7rkgh9tzpmemoqk3
I will then initiate a trade of that 1 NANO to a coin holder for a totally different coin of higher value. The best offer available wins the trade and gets added to the website as part of the project story. Their name, bio, and a blurb about them(or their organization) will be published on the site as a "thank you" and for posterity purposes. Of course, they can remain anonymous and donate "in-kind" for an organization/purpose.
Trades will continue until the goal of one(1) Bitcoin is reached. Compared to the "One Red Paperclip" story the trade up is not quite as ambitious but I feel like this is a nice value story-wise and works as a proof of concept. I want this story to work out without inflating the cost too much to attract a lot of scammers.
Goal Reached
Once the goal is reached and the wallet is verified to have one(1) Bitcoin, we will decide as a community(through a Reddit post) where to donate the bulk of the received Bitcoin. The amount will be 75% 100% of the received Bitcoin, regardless of the amount(even if we go over or under).
I have set a 1-year time limit in case this project doesn't get enough traction to take off, but I'm really hoping the community can come together and make this a fun experience. I know in particular that the r/nanocurrency/ community is quite engaged when it comes to things like this. :)
Final Bitcoin address(no previous transactions, cold wallet): https://blockchain.info/address/3Eqb7TJAp2wU9Fy3PpRk8ruQRbVMYawa39
Website again(which I developed): https://fromnanotobitcoin.com/
Trade propositions will be done through this thread. I think for security purposes we should vet the reddit accounts a bit(What do you think, no throwaways or totally brand new accounts?). I feel like upvo

So this is going to sound a little weird, but I am in a competition to see who can make the best trades e.g. the One Red Paperclip experiment (see link). Right now I have a mini-box cutter, good for your tool or tackle box, and I am looking for someone who is willing to trade me for it. All offers welcome.

So there's this guy who traded his way up from a red paperclip to a house via small trades slowly increasing the value of his object. I thought it'd be really cool to try with a baseball card, and thought I'd share the idea in case any of you wanted to try as well!
Does anybody else like to play the "one red paperclip" game on the app? That's the old story about the guy who had a red paperclip and 14 trades later had a house.
I have had fun doing that with high count cards to get a low count card I need/want. Here was my project today. I started with two Prequel GM Dupes, my goal was either Endor WV or Sabine TC.
Trade 1:
Give: Prequel GM (6000) Dupe
Get: IG-88 Bounty (5000) Dupe
Trade 2:
Give: IG-88 Bounty (5000) Dupe
Get: Kanan Rebels (3500)
Trade 3:
Give: Kanan Rebels, GM Rebels Dupe
Get: TC Sabine (2000)
So not a crazy rare card but I never would have been able to trade for it with two Prequel GMs. Anybody else have success stories from doing trades like this? Please share!
whats he up to?
Hello, incremental game lovers!
We've been hard at work building this merge game about the guy who traded a paperclip to a house. It's based on this true story for the first run (prestige) and then we let the players choose their own path from there onwards.
We've tried several art styles over the last few months, fixed all known issues and tried a few variations of screenshots and icons on the main stores (+ ASO) but we're still finding it hard to attract lots of players to the game. (We're trying Facebook paid UA, Apple Search Ads + ASO for organic downloads)
Do you have any recommendations for us? Things you think we're doing right or wrong?
Would appreciate your feedback!
Cheers,
Anthony
Update 1: Added links.
Update 2: Released an update on stores with some of the feedback listed below. Thank you.
Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald made his first trade, a red paper clip for a fish-shaped pen, on July 14, 2005. He reached his goal of trading up to a house with the fourteenth transaction, trading a movie role for a house in July 2006.
It seems that the Lakers are looking to acquire another player that can shoot threes and guard the Clippers' big wings, and Marcus Morris is a name that gets bandied about. The problem, however, is that Marcus Morris makes $15 million this year, and the Lakers would have difficulty getting to the $12 million required to reach the 125% salary match rule without including Danny Green or KCP, which obviously they don't want to do.
Some members of the media β maybe on the Nate Duncan mock trade pod? β have proposed that the Lakers make a trade in tiers, where they start with a package of, say, Quinn Cook ($3M), Demarcus Cousins ($3.5M), and Jared Dudley (just over $2.5M) or Troy Daniels (just over $2M), then make two or even three separate trades for increasingly large salaries to match for Morris while somehow getting the Knicks an asset. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was a name that they bandied about, since he makes $13M and Charlotte could be looking to cut costs.
Assume Kuzma (1.974M) is in the deal, either in a separate trade for a minimum Knicks guy since they can't package a guy they traded for, or in one of the original trades in exchange for a pick that they end up sending with the last salary.
Has this sort of multi-step trade that circumvents the salary cap ever happened in the NBA? Shout out to /u/Raynman5 for reminding me of the Red Paperclip story.
Iβve seen this story around several times and Iβm quite skeptical. Some of the trades listed seem odd, like trading a record deal or the fact that he traded a pen for a hand-sculpted doorknob. Can someone help me here?
So basically me and my mates are doing something between ourselves where we start with a small item and go abt Belfast trading up to get the best thing. Could some saints of Reddit tell me what shops are indispensability owned within reasonable distance of Victoria square? Thanks
Name some low level players I could start flipping
Iβm trying to do the Red Paperclip challenge, Iβm starting by trading my Striker Uncle Sam. Iβm willing to trade for an uncommon painted or normal rare.
Some years ago a book was written detailing how a man traded, using craigslist, from a simple red paperclip up to a sports car and finally a house. My father's friend took it to be some kind of conservative story showing how anyone willing to work can get a house.
Some years later smartphones were invented and I remembered this and found out the house he got was actually a shack in rural canada and was only wirth 10,000 dollars. He donated it for a tax write off and the wage he earned trading up was far less than a McDonald's worker.
During the 2 years it took him to make a $10K (on paper) his wife supported him. He only did it for the sake of writing a book on an interesting idea. It was never meant to be an inspirational story for anyone can make it.
My idea is to write a similar book, but instead of craigslist (which was novel at the time), I would use Tinder or an instagram like or something equally newish. All of my trades would secretly include a trade for a spot in the book and I would eventually trade up to a million dollars. The twist at the end would be that the million dollars is for a book deal for the book you are reading.
I'm not yet sure if it should be a tongue in cheek conservative/libertarian book or a liberal one or what. But I really like the idea that in the end it was all a pyramid scheme of sorts. Everyone donating a little bit of their time/money/skills to forward this book which serves as a future advertisement for them. In the end, everyone gets a blurb about their online company and I get a book deal. Probably just an e-book though. Probably not worth a million either.
I have a school assignment where you take something valued very low and trade with people to trade up for something else. So here goes nothing. Comment or message me your offers and I will make a new post every time I get a new item. Link for anyone that needs to verify that it is indeed authentic and red.

BREAKING NEWS: Up for trade is one normal paperclip. All features of the paperclip are standard in all aspects and the piece of paper it sits on is not included. This is the first in a long line of trades we hope to make throughout this semester to demonstrate how trade brings value to consumers. Starting from a simple paperclip we are going to trade up to the most valuable item we can. All proceeds for this project will be donated to a local New Hampshire non-profit organization, and participation in this project will require a photo of the trade taking place as a proof of trade.
This project was inspired by Kyle MacDonald who was able to trade a red paperclip all the way up to a free house! Our goal is a little more ambitious. We are going to be using an uncolored paperclip, and we will be donating whatever we have at the end of the semester to charity. Below are the links to a picture of the paperclip and the Ted Talk given by Kyle MacDonald.
