Weird and random (but sincere) prediction: I believe Conan O'Brien will appear on AEW TV sometime in the next year. Explanation inside.
Here's why I think this:
- Danhausen appeared on the inaugural episode of "Conan O'Brien Needs a Fan," a podcast where Conan talks to real-life fans of his. In this episode (definitely worth listening to), Danhausen explains that his character is partially based on Conan and his mannerisms. In return, Conan expresses a seemingly sincere desire to appear on a wrestling show with Danhausen, even if just by video, and goes as far as to pitch ideas on how it could happen.
- Here's where it gets good: as we all know, Danhausen just signed with AEW. AEW airs on Turner stations (which are owned by WarnerMedia), and as it happens, Conan is under the WarnerMedia umbrella as well: he has an as-yet-untitled show that will be debuting on HBO Max sometime in 2022. Prior to this, the last incarnation of his late night talk show (the aptly titled "Conan") aired on TBS from 2010-2021.
- Turner has used AEW for corporate synergy multiple times now, with crossovers from Rick & Morty, Shaquille O'Neal, and Go-Big Show. It would stand to reason they'd do so again to promote Conan's HBO Max show.
- Conan has a long history of having pro wrestlers on the program, from Yokuzuna way back in 1993 and a rare Vince interview in 1999, up to Roman Reigns and Sheamus in the late 2010s. He's not a "fan" per se, but he definitely appreciates and gets a kick out of wrestling. Other than the late Regis Philbin, I can't think of another TV talk show host who has had wrestlers on as guests more frequently or consistently than Conan.
- Bonus: his long-time sidekick Andy Richter is a genuine fan of pro wrestling, and even appeared as a "guest judge" for a swimsuit competition at the Royal Rumble in 2000.
- EDIT: He even did a segment where he trained as a luchador! (Thanks for the reminder, /u/ChristopherBrolan)
Between Conan's desire to do something with Danhausen and the opportunity for corporate synergy/cross-promotion for Turner to promote Conan's new show, it seems like a genuinely strong possibility that Conan will appear on AEW in some form or fashion in the coming year.
