A list of puns related to "Northern Expeditions"
So this Gaulish guy told me about this magical southern land called Iberia, Imma take a loot at that place to see what it's like and how the locals are.
Was it because:
A. Jiang Wei was just an incompetent general.
B. Jiang Weiβs subordinates were incompetent.
C. Deng Ai, Guo Huai & others were really just that good.
D. The trouble in the Shu imperial court prevented him from succeeding.
E. He failed due to uncontrollable factors.
Iβm not really a fan of Jiang Wei myself. But I donβt think he was necessarily totally incompetent. He seemed to have been a decently competent general. So why were his invasions, for the most part, such a resounding failure?
Moriarty: it has became clear to me that the Northern continent has not been mapped or explored.
This mean essentially have an area of redacted that could contain unknown resources or threats.
Therefore I am forming an expedition to explore this unknown land, find new life and boldly go where no man has gone before.
You can keep what you find and you will be paid.
We won't be using ships, only a couple of forward operating bases with a small narrow guage engine going between them as well as valks and land vehicles.
Bring suncream and plenty of water, I'm not taking responsibility for sunstroke.
I've given up on QRM at my home in Oakland, California, so I'm doubling down on mobile + portable operations. It's been a hoot to travel up the Northern California shoreline to escape the RF pollution and take in coastal sights. Yesterday I set up a 34.5-foot* aluminum vertical over the saltwater ground in CM88eu, and it was a breath of fresh air to be able to hear stations besides the legal limit club stateside.
I'm sure I'm not the only person doing this, and would love to link up with others who'd be interested in joining forces. Having someone else there sure would make it safer to set up the aluminum mast π¬. Any of you, or anyone you know, interested in joining this kind of thing? We'd have to drive separately for now, of course, but I'm not squeamish about outdoor activities once we're there.
Can offer: decent equipment and knowledge of basic antenna building in the field, FT-857, extra privileges, one-match campfires. Might have soon: homebrew 10m 3-element beam. Can use: hands to help stand up antennas, HF know-how, always more antenna building equipment and knowledge, solar panels, better receiver, allllll the coax.
*This was supposed to be an approximation of a 40m quarter wave, and I was able to finagle the SWR below 2. But by accident, it was a perfectly-tuned 17m 5/8 wave. Didn't even move the SWR meter! Definitely remembering this one.

The loyalists grow desperate! The murderer Xi has organized two new armies under the direct control of the MSS and deployed them in a final, desperate counterstrike at General of the Vanguard Liu's drive on Beijing. The Crouching Dragon, Zhang, is reported to have abandoned the west altogether, leaving the coward Yu to his fate. The greatest of all loyalist Generals, it is believed that it is he who has orchestrated the massed counterattack, although news from the Supreme General's agents in Beijing grows increasingly scarce, and indicates paranoia and panic among Xi's loyalists.
The Supreme General has ordered his forces to gather on the Eastern Front and throw back the loyalists. The cowardly Flying General and his warlord-state in Shaanxi can be resolved when the murderer is dead. One final effort to clear the road to Beijing! One final assault to shatter the loyalist armies! The decisive campaign is at hand!
Eastern Front
With Zhang at their head, the loyalists have massed six entire armies, almost all of their remaining forces, in a massed counterattack against Liu. The General of the Vanguard expects to abandon Linyi any day now, and heavy attacks against Weifang threaten to unhinge the entire flank. Zhang's own 77th Army awaits in reserve to exploit any break in the NPLA lines, with the defenders even now fighting nearly two to one odds.
The Supreme General has assumed direct command of the Eastern Front and directed General of the Vanguard Hong to lead his own 74th Army in a flanking attack against the loyalists at Nanyang, relieving pressure on the front while reinforcements pour in to shore up the line. The line needs only to hold until reinforcements arrive- but hold it must. Glory to the liberators of China!
The unclaimed land of Siberia lies open, and Grand General of the North Ren has been directed to claim it. The Imperial Peopleβs Army will be launching its Second Northern Expedition after several months of preparations, claiming the last population centers in the former Russian Far East and leaving the Empire the de facto owners of the Siberian Arctic.
The White Banner Army will be divided into its two corps for the duration of this operation. The 14th Field Corps will have Yakutsk as its objective, while the 15th Field Corps will move into the Amur region and claim the coastline. The Bordered White Banner Army, the Beiyang Fleet, and the Northern Skies Command will also have parts to play in securing the White Banner Armyβs rear area.
###Yakutsk
Taking Yakutsk is expected to be the easiest component of the operation. The city is isolated, has ample transport infrastructure connecting it to Imperial-controlled territory, and has a well-established supply base allocated to support the operation.
The 14th Field Corps will dispatch 10,000 troops in a convoy formation guarded against insurgent attacks to take the highway and accompanying railroad north to Yakutsk. Additional troops will be allocated to establish checkpoints near population centers, securing supply lines. Upon reaching Yakutsk, the troops will give the local authorities an opportunity to surrender under promise of autonomy, before moving in and securing the city by force.
###Amur
The 15th Field Corps will have the task of assaulting Komsomolsk-on-Amur and the coastal cities beyond. 15,000 troops will advance on the city, once again prepared for insurgent action, and issue the standard surrender offer to local authorities before seizing the city. 5,000 troops will remain on station, 5,000 troops will advance to Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, and the remaining 5,000 will advance to De-Kastri. The latter two cities are the only ports available to a Japanese assault from Sakhalin, and must be secured against assault. Once Komsomolsk is secure, the remaining 15,000 troops of the 15th will be dispatched to the city, in order to prepare for counter-landing operations. Any landing from Sakhalin to contest Imperial control of the Siberian coastline will be subjected to immediate counterattack.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I find it fascinating how the KMT managed to unify so many different groups over such a large expanse of territory, so Iβd love to read more into it
What would China and the KR universe look like if the KMT had succeeded in their expedition without the Germans intervening? What would this mean for the various concessions? Would the Legation Cities even exist?
The Kuomintang's Northern Expedition of 1926-1928 fails, and the Beiyang Government consolidates power in China. How does this affect World War 2 in Asia?
Shouldn't the second week of Northern Expeditions unlock today?
