I actually identify as both a MRA and a feminist and read/participate in many forums.
I see a LOT of hate for feminism. A LOT. I also see a lot of (and I have participated) "If feminism is about equality, why aren't feminists doing (activism for male suicide, rights for men in court custody, insisting women go to war as much as men, etc etc etc).
Do you think feminism would get less hate if they were openly a movement for womens rights (which I believe it should be) rather than saying that they are working towards equality, but largely doing it only by raising up women?

It seems you often especially these days see people complaining about fairness and equal opportunity/pay for men and women. However they'll be the same people who argue "that's the man's job" especially in the areas of a relationship...
So where's the line of equality land and the "roles of male and female" land.... Seems where financial gain is possible that's where equality is.
AP did a Q&A article in which it claims that Muhammed's farewell sermon contained language which told muslims that women were equal to men. To me that sounded a bit out of character for ole muhammed. So I looked it up and here's what he had to say about women's rights.
"You have rights over your women and your women have rights over you. Your rights over your women are that they are not to allow anyone whom you dislike on treat on your bedding (furniture), not allow anyone whom you dislike to enter your houses. And their right over you are that should treat them kindly with regard to their clothing and food."
Basically if a woman follows all the rules of being a muslim woman then she has the right to be clothed and fed. HOORAY! EQUALITY!
