A list of puns related to "List of concert band literature"
Does anyone have suggestions on great concert band/symphonic band/wind ensemble composers to listen to?
Any advice when it comes to attending a show is welcomed as well, thanks!
I was wondering what everyone's favorite brass chorale moments are in the middle of large Concert Band/Wind Ensemble works, with typically sweeping 8th/16th note runs and interjections in the woodwinds.
The first that comes to my mind is Frank Ticheli's Symphony No. 2: Mvt. III. Apollo Unleashed at 2:05 and later on at 5:00, where the brass play Bach β BWV 433βΆ Wer Gott vertraut, hat wohl gebaut.
Another example that comes to mind is David Maslanka's Symphony No. 8: Mvt I at 10:23 and later at 11:15.
Hello. A few days ago I had a tonic clonic (grand mal) seizure backstage at my studentsβ high school band concert. Iβve never had a seizure before. Several of them saw the convulsing and I was rushed to the ER, with the concert rescheduled for a take 2 next week. I only work with a small group of them, and Iβm also pretty young, so our ensemble is a bit closer than usual. I go back to have an informal chat with the students tomorrow. This is where Iβm stuck.
I remember very little surrounding the seizure, but eye witnesses told me that some of my students were crying, and one of them even thought it was his fault because he was talking to me about an issue when it happened (Iβve got two music degrees. Something going slightly wrong mid-performance at a high school band concert did NOT spook me into a seizure). I plan to start off by letting them know that they didnβt do anything to cause it, but I still donβt KNOW what caused it! Iβm not diagnosed with epilepsy and Iβm an otherwise healthy young person save some severe depression and anxiety. They did find something wrong in my CT scan, but thatβs about all I know until the neurology appointment.
Aside from telling my students that they didnβt trigger my seizure in any way shape or form, and that Iβm so proud of them for nailing their first piece, what can I say when I meet with them tomorrow? Iβm bringing hot chocolate to lighten the mood. I have them next semester too, so Iβd like to try and re-normalize our relationship after I literally traumatized them by convulsing on the floor. They have their school counselors obviously, but I still have to communicate with them. Help?
TL;DR- I donβt know how to comfort my students after having a literal seizure in front of them
I have a pretty good list i would like to think.
I once had a chance to go to a concert for free but only know a few songs of the band might have been good but i decided not to go
This took place when I was 14 (the same year I snapped out of it but this took place months after I did). I went to see AC/DC with my dad (who's never been in the organization). We took the metro there so we just walked around the city beforehand instead of driving. When it came time to enter the event, we walked. Was outside of the stadium where I saw a fucking literature cart with two sisters standing there like idiots. I felt like asking " what the hell are you doing?" Because think about it. The local congregation KNEW an extremely popular band like AC/DC was gonna be in the area and decided to use that opportunity to spread that word to rock fans who came to see the band and nothing more. I may be overreacting but I think that's fucking stupid. Out of all the places you could think to spread your stupid word, it HAD to be at a major event like this one. Go back to doing it at the airport or something not at a fucking concert tf??

... keep reading on reddit β‘I need it to making sort of a magic system. I know there's gotta be a nerd out there who did the impossible : made a compilation of all magical effects, their effects and places they are picked from. From harry potter's very very soft magical system, to some cyberpunk game with a very grounded and hard magic system ( more like hi tech stuff). Be it potion, wand, spell, curse, shout ( FUSS DO RRAH ). Be it DnD or a novel like Witcher. All effects from everywhere.
The most important effects from all media or all effects from one piece of media will suffice too.
Is there this sort of database somewhere?
Any tips? Any ideas for club activities? It will be open to all skill levels but I do want to form a drumline from it at some point
I'm going with her obviously but guys, this band is playing twice and I managed to get tickets in my fourth and last try, you should have seen her face, she cried for like an hour when I got the tickets.
I'm still amazed my country is going to host the start of their World Tour and my mom and me get to go! She's been a fan of them since the 2000, I grew up listening to them too. She's just so happy to go, I can watch her laugh and cry of happiness all day. I hope we both can go next year!
Do you guys have an experience like that? I'm looking forward to listen to you!
Hello everyone! This topic caused a lot of arguments in my family, which is why Iβm looking for some opinions on here :)
I (F19) started being a fan of a specific music genre about 4 years ago. I went to many concerts, met a lot of other fans and felt welcome in the community. (Had posters, pics, signed cdβs and all that in my room)
My cousin (F19) always belittled me for my liking in that specific music. I wouldnβt have had a problem with it since opinions are different and thatβs totally ok, but the way she talked about it always rubbed me the wrong way. Whenever I showed some songs to my other cousin (her sister), who liked the music, she starting yelling ,,turn that sh*t off, Iβm getting ear-cancer! My head already hurts, how can you call that music?β She really said some unnecessary stuff, demanded I take off all my posters when they visit because ,,she feels watched by these gay and weird looking peopleβ.
So I stopped talking about it with her, because I didnβt want to be annoying and since she made me really uncomfortable and didnβt stop it even when I told her she was being rude.
Nowadays, who would have thought, she is also a fan. Some months ago she watched a music video of a group I like as well (since it was talked about a lot), and surprise, she realized itβs not as horrendous as she always said.
Now she acts like itβs something that connects us and fangirls about all these groups, showing me pictures and videos and so on, buying tons of albums and wanting to get me to give her my posters.
She even went as far as announcing to the whole family that she canβt wait for concerts to start again, because then she can go to a concert of her favorite group with me since Iβve been to so many already and we can party together. Without even asking me about it beforehand. Of course, the family was happy until I said I wouldnβt go to a concert with her.
They say Iβm being petty and that I should be happy that we now enjoy the same things. But I refuse to go to a concert of this specific genre with someone who made me feel ashamed for liking especially that music + was unnecessarily rude about it for years and has never shown any intentions to apologize.
So am I being reasonable or am I the petty AH? Should I just forget her actions from the last years and move on?
Just to give an example, my story deals with Beartooth.
Iβd never really heard them but I went to see them with Motionless in White (one of my favorite bands).
I had this group of Beartooth fans behind me that were just complete obnoxious assholes. When one of the openers called motionless in white βmetalβ they all started laughing like βaww they called MiW metal how cuteβ.
And then it just went on through the whole set as they got blackout drunkβ¦talking loudly, heckling MiW, and just being shitty people. It was even weirder because Beartooth went first so I have no idea why they stuck around.
Needless to say I was not made a Beartooth fan that night.
(Anyone wondering why I didnβt move away from them I had a balcony ticket so it was seats).
Anyone else have an experience like that?
In the last few weeks I started listening to a new singer and on a whim, I decided to see if they were touring and playing anywhere near New York. Turns out they are in May and tickets went on sale six days ago and are now sold out. This has happened to me so many times. I know Songkick will alert you when a concert is announced for one of your artists but you have to create a list of artists you want to follow or get alerts for. It's hard to think of all the artists I would want to see in concert, and I'm constantly learning about new bands so I would have to update the list frequently. Sometimes I browse lists of upcoming concerts but there are so many in New York and tickets might go on sale much earlier than the concert date so it's difficult to find ones I want to go to that way. There has to be a better way. So, reddit, how?
https://vocaroo.com/1661oKlfxCXR Here is probably what it sounds like
https://vocaroo.com/16L3OSTAJLJX Here is me probably adding in a few notes but maybe it does sound like that
I played it in concert band in high school (to clarify, I played it on bassoon and only played the vocaroo recordings on recorder) and it's probably an old song and it's stuck in my head and I have no idea what it is. Super thanks to anyone who knows what it is.
What is the top band that you want to see but haven't yet? Also, what is the best band that you've seen in concert? Where?
I will be a student leader next year for my high school band and I am trying to find a song. I have been thinking about what I want and I finally decided I would like a 3 movement piece with a trombone solo in one movement and a flute solo in another. I know this is very specific but I have a really cool idea that I'm going to do with my other student leader. If anyone has any idea of a song like this please let me know ASAP.
Searching and categorizing references is a tedious task that requires a lot of manual work. In recent years, many tools/services have been proposed, that aim to make it more efficient. I have collected a few of those tools below.
