A list of puns related to "List of common misconceptions"
I was told that the shares are already registered in my name, that they won't be loaned out under Fidelity, that no NFT dividend has been reported and that everyone with shares will receive one if it ever is. I was also heavily warned that shares will be much more difficult to sell "if the price of GME tanks" if I transfer to Computershare.
This feels like massive FUD and could see this potentially stopping others from transferring, especially if they aren't read up on everything going on. I was thinking about leaving two of my shares in my Fidelity account, but after this nonsensical waste of time I'll be transferring everything out π has anyone else had to sit through this? Based on all the other posts on here, I thought it would be so much easier...
The official Viz translation and various fan -translation got some bad translations at various point. Here's a list of some common heavy misconceptions because of the translation:
Feitan's ability
In the Viz translation it is implied Feitan's ability has various form, however it's not the case. Phinks only talked about the wpoer which varies in the original version. he said that the power it had against zazan woudl kill Kalluto, so he couldn't see it. Kalluto was then surprised that Feitan could fight differently than with his sword and really wanted to see rising sun.
How could Phinks even know Feitan's ability has various form if he only saw it once? Phinks even said they don't want to reveal their abilities to other, they learn about the other's abilities only after seeing them in action. The troupe knew it was about fire before Feitan used his ability, and Phinks said it has a wide range and it attacks everyone inside it. And the 2nd time it exactly did the same thing as before. So as far as we now his ability doesn't have various forms and there's officially no hint about it.
Netero and Zeno's grandfather
It is said in the Viz translation that "Netero is the only one who fought Zeno's grandfather and lived". However the translation misinterpret what Zeno says. Zeno actually says that among the people his grandfather knew when they were young and had some fights with, Netero is the only one who's currently alive as he didn't die of old age. Zeno actually talks about Netero being as old as his grandfather.
It makes no sense for Netero to have a deathmatch with Zeno's grandfather as Netero is a friend with the zoldycks. Netero is stronger than Zeno's grandfather since he was bored and wanted to fight an unstoppable opponent. Zeno's grandfather isn't even hired for high level assassination anymore, it's Silva and Zeno who are. Zeno's grandfather is nowhere Netero's level.
Gon's power equaling Meruem
For this one there's many people who think Gon wasn't as strong as Meruem while in japanese its is said Gon's power was on par with Meruem. in the Viz version Pitou says "I was right, his fang can indeed reach the King's throat", however in japanese it's actually a double meaning sentence (like when Netero talked about potential of evolution and malice before using the rose bomb)
Pitou also says in japanese "I was right, Gon's power could indeed reach the King". The guards saw all invaders as threat for the King, but Pitou h

Before you flip out about how "everyone knows what consent is," that is absolutely not correct! Some (in fact, many) people are legit confused about what constitutes consent, such as this teenager who admitted he would ass-rape a girl because he learned from porn that girls like anal sex (overwhelmingly not true, in addition to being irrelevant), or this ostensibly well-meaning college kid who put his friend at STI risk after assuming she was just vying for a relationship when she said no, or this guy from the "ask a rapist thread" who couldn't understand why a sex-positive girl would not have sex with him, or this guy who seemed to think that because a woman was a submissive that meant he could dominate her, or this 'comedian' who haplessly made a public rape confession in the form of a comedy monologue, or this 'well-liked kid' who thought good girls always had to fight a little the first time. In fact, researchers have found that in acquaintance rape--one of the most common types of rape--perpetrators tend to see their behavior as seduction, not rape, or they somehow believe the rape justified.
Yet sexual assault is a tractable problem. Offenders often [rationalize their behavior](https://

I made a thread like this before, but I think it bears repeating to try and catch more things I might have missed. If you've never read the Wikipedia List of Common Misconceptions, I recommend giving it a skim.
Note; only the manga, The Last: Naruto the Movie, and Boruto: Naruto the Movie are considered canon. Several of the animeβs filler arcs, and most of the movies, introduce logical inconsistencies to the universe and so are excluded. I donβt care how cool Izumi Uchiha was or was not, she didnβt really exist. The Databooks are somewhat iffy, but are generally consistent with the manga, so can be ruled canon by default unless they contradict the manga.
Common bits of Fanon that are not actually Canon:
The Bloodline Purges were never the state policy of Mist and probably didnβt happen at all. Hakuβs mother was killed by her frightened civilian husband, not Mist ninja, and there is no indication that this was particularly widespread behaviour.
Sasuke was never mean to his team or particularly arrogant. He was somewhat dismissive to Naruto, and generally distant and aloof, but not insulting or otherwise upset about being βheld backβ by his teammates. His primary response to Naruto and Sakura is apathy.
Team 7 does not have a standard rubric for its membership. There is no βRookie of the year + Kunoichi of the Year + Deadlastβ template which gets reused over and over. Sasuke was the top scoring graduate, and Naruto was placed with him to balance the team since Naruto scored exceptionally low. Sakura actually scored below Ino, and was probably somewhere roughly in the middle as far as skill went for their class.
Sakura is probably not particularly weak at the start of the series; rather Naruto and Sasuke are abnormally strong so she seems lackluster in comparison. Sasuke openly acknowledges her strength when they meet again in Shipuden.
Seal Masters are not a thing. Jiraiya is never called a Seal Master, and only uses seals in combat occasionally. While he is an acknowledged expert in the field, he has not earned any sort of title or certification of high level proficiency.
There is no indication that Gaaraβs seal was not working as intended. While the insanity might seem like an unwanted side effect, it is also possible that it was merely not considered an issue in the original design. Gaara was considered a failure as a Jinchuriki because he couldnβt control the murd

If an item pertains to something you haven't even heard of, don't count it. Unless you want to. Who am I to tell you what to do?
14 of the items were something totally contradictory to what I thought. The most mind-blowing is, of course, the fact that Humpty Dumpty is never claimed to be an egg in the rhyme.
I think of myself of a skeptic but some of the stuff I've never thought about, just believed, really hit me out of nowhere. It's probably not claimed that the forbidden fruit is an apple? Wow.
So, Reddit, what about you?
Likewise, what are some common misconceptions you regularly encounter?
In the last few days I've seen several different theories and interpretations around the possible causes of the many queue errors, mainly the dreaded 2002 one we're all too familiar with at this point. Since many of those seem to rely on partial or even incorrect interpretations of how internet fundamentally works I thought that I could help some of you understand what may be happening behind the curtains and why. I want to preface everything saying that this is my personal analysis of the problem and it's pieced together thanks to the generous information given by Square Enix about the issue on their end and my academic knowledge. If you already know how the internet and its protocols work you won't find anything of interest in here and I suggest you skip this thread altogether because my target are people with a complete lack of networking knowledge; you have been advised.
First of all we should understand what packets are and how their loss can be a problem. Data is sent through the internet in the shape of packets, meaning small bits and chunks of information coded according to common used patterns and protocols; the most important and used protocol for this is TCP (I know technically speaking packets don't simply go through layer 4 but allow me this gross simplification for the sake of clarity). The Transmission Control Protocol works as the codified way information is sent and received between two hosts, in this case Square Enix's servers and our clients.
Now, I'm sure almost anyone here has already heard the term packet loss, be it when lagging during gameplay or when your Discord mates start hearing you like you've been assimilated by the Borgs as a robotically speaking android. You'd be forgiven for thinking that packet loss actually meant the complete loss of the info sent out but it's not always like that. TCP has many systems in place in order to avoid the actual loss of packets, mainly though the lack of acknowledgment from the server receiving an expected packet thus prompting the client to send it again. Packet loss then means anything from complete loss of the packet through the tubes constituting the internet to a low quality stream of data, constantly prompting the resending of those packets or said packets arriving in a jumbled order, forcing the server to make something out

Also, wikipedia's first paragraph on this entry is: "This list corrects erroneous beliefs that are currently widely held about notable topics. Each misconception and the corresponding facts have been discussed in published literature". I think God's existence is clearly a misconception that should be inserted here.
