I know I’m late to the party but what type of pro-war, pro-England, elitism was this crap?
The first half is all about trying to keep Russia in the war and the second half is all about trying to bring the US into the war. It also ends with the “hero” deciding not to be a pacifist as he kills someone. Ralph Fiennes says they’re saving the world, but most historians agree that there were no real heroes or villains in WWI.
If our heroes didn’t do anything, and Germany wins the war then Nazi Germany (probably) doesn’t happen. Just saying.

I did not expect it to be that good. I thought it was going to be all politics, but it really wasn’t. It was about life. The imagery and metaphors Warren thinks of are just beautiful. So Adam and Willie represent Idea and Reality. However, from Jack’s or the authors view is it all about the balance of both? At first, Jack seemed nihilistic, but realizes there is more to it. How did you interpret that theme?
