The following is an extract from the trade paper Music Week, which was founded in 1959 to inform about the UK record industry. The purpose of this post is to give an idea to anyone reading about what was going on in the UK mainstream music field at the time of Led Zeppelin's last North American tour promoting Presence. It also gives Led Zeppelin a special award for "contributions to British music"

"THE ANNUAL presentation of the Ivor Novello Awards, chosen by the Songwriters' Guild and sponsored by the PRS, to mark outstanding contributions to British music took place on Thursday at a lunch held at Grosvenor House. The awards were presented by John Inman, DJM recording artist and cast member of the Are You Being Served? tv series.
Don't Go Breaking My Heart was named the best pop song and statuettes went to the writers, Elton John and Bernie Taupin and publisher Big Pig Music. Runner-up certificates were awarded to Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle (Rondor Music) for Heart On My Sleeve and Russel Stone (Tin Lid Music) for We Do It.
Other awards were:--- Best m-o-r song: Statuette --- John Miles for Music (Velvet Music/Rak Publishing); Certificates --- Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita Music) for Don't Cry For Me Argentina and Dave Townsend for Miss You Nights. Best radio or tv themes: Statuette --- John McCabe (Novello) for Sam; Certificates --- Dennis Farnon (Standard Music) for Bouquet Of Barbed Wire and Harry South (Sparta Florida) for . the Sweeney.
International hit of the year: Statuettes --- Tony Hiller, Martin Lee, Lee Sheridan (Tony Hiller Music) for Save Your Kisses For Me; Certificates --- Elton John, Bernie Taupin (Big Pig) for Don't Go Breaking My Heart and Barry Maurice and Robin Gibb (Abieail Music) for You Should Be Dancing. Most performed work and best-selling A-side: Statuette --- Hiller, Lee, Sheridan, Tony Hiller Music and Pye for Save Your Kisses. Certificates --- John Taupin, Big Pig and Rocket for Don't Go Breaking My Heart.
