I don’t know if it’s possible from other brokers too, but we can give it a try!

I am from Croatia, there is not available many trading platforms... we have Revolut, Etoro, Interactive Brokers and Trading212, as far as I know. Confusion with Interactive Brokers Options Terminology

I’m experiencing some frustration using Interactive Brokers for more complex option spreads because of the terminiology and hope someone who’s an expert at IB for options can help.

I can’t find a decent video on it in YouTube.

The accepted terminology isn’t what’s practiced by IB and I wanted to check it’s not my own fault for misunderstanding as I’m really new to using IB.

For credit spreads, e.g. Bull Put Spread, I should SELL to open.

Then I would BUY to close.

However IB doesn’t seem to follow this convention. Here is an example.

Example 1: FB Iron Condor

I have an FB iron condor that is currently looking bad and I want to close it.

3 x FB Oct 30 210/220 300/310 Iron Condor

When I sold to open, I set a limit order. That was reflected as a negative number in the order panel, and when that order got through, I received a credit. So far, no issues.

However now I want to close it, and select β€œClose” the radio button says β€œSell”.
Meaning to close this trade I have to sell, which is counterintuitive.

Furthermore the range of bid to ask is -1.92 to -1.46, implying I would get a credit.

So I’m scratching my head as to the value to input to β€œsell” to close at minimum loss to me.

Logically the LOWER the number you buy something back for, the better for you.

By this logic, the lower number would be -1.92.

But if I choose this number -1.92, it shows I would have a debit of -576 [D]

If I choose the bigger number, -1.46, then my debit would be -438 [D] which would be better for me. But the β€œ-β€œ sign is confusing me as to what should really happen.

(If it helps, when I hover my mouse over the trade in my IB portfolio a β€˜helpful’ mouseover pops up with the following message:

To buy 1 Iron Condor Means

Sell 1 FB Oct’30 300 Call

Buy 1 FB Oct’30 310 Call

Buy 1 FB Oct’30 210 Put

Sell 1 FB Oct’30 220 Put)

If anyone can tell me which end of the scale I should β€œsell” my iron condor at I’d be really grateful. Thank you all!

PS: I had a second example but that would make this post too long, and I hope if someone answers this post maybe it will also answer my queries about that one!

Make a FAQ for this sub with terminology and definitions regarding builds and commonly used acronyms, as well as other information for those who are new

I'm new to the sub and play Crucible on XBox and PC quite often. I've been getting more and more serious about it and thought it would be a good idea to check out some subs where the skilled and experienced players congregate so that I could learn from them. Unfortunately, I've found the barrier to entry is kinda steep and I don't understand most of the terminology used in several posts. I've been a casual player since Year 1 in D1 and D2, but never really got involved in the community and I feel that having an easy-to-access space for information would really help noobs like me and help grow the community. Sorry if I seem kinda bitchy or as if I didn't try to learn first, just seemed like a good idea for this sub. What do you guys think?

AITA for not comforting my mother after correcting my parents about using the correct and accurate terminology for indigenous people?

My family and I (20F) were eating pizza at the dinner table and were joking about me being emotionally stunted. For some context: I don’t really show my feelings about morbid topics such as death and as a result I kinda seem like a robot, where I don’t experience happiness or sadness/anger unless I’m overwhelmed or overstimulated.

Anyway, my father brought up that I cried after my β€œIndian boyfriend” broke up with me (he is Indigenous). I corrected him by saying that the word Indian used in such a context is racist since it’s not accurate. He and my mother defended him, saying that since the Europeans once thought that North America was India, then it’s the correct term for Indigenous people and that the correct terminology didn’t really change until a year ago.

My brother (12M), then jumped in and agreed with me saying that Native American or Indigenous are words that can be used but that the term β€œIndian” is racist. My other brother then came upstairs and I told him that he’s just in time for the racist conversation (which I admit was said in a rude manner), and my mother loses it and says we are calling her racist when we didn’t. She tells me to look up the definition of racism, and that her using that word in that context isn’t racist since she grew up with that word being used all the time.

My brother defends me, saying what my brother and I already told them but she immediately shuts it down and says we’re calling her a racist and went upstairs crying. She sent a text β€œapologizing” for what happened, and said that word was misused but was not used in a racist way and that she overreacted. I kinda felt bad because she was crying, but I do not feel bad about correcting them about that word.

So am I the asshole for not comforting my crying mother after I corrected her when she used a racist word?

Edit: I apologize for all the errors and grammar mistakes there is. I didn’t really proof read, since I am upset over what had happened.

Looking for a confirmation of terminology

Hello all! I am hoping to receive feedback/confirmation of a potential β€œlabel” for myself. So the wife and I are ENM, and while I haven’t had many non-monogamous experiences, I’d like to have a way to identify within the community. Allow me to preface, labels in my opinion are purely a way to give others an idea of where you are and how you view the world, not a prescriptive sentence to being.

What I’ve deduced: I’m an ENM hierarchical poly type (allow for inaccurate labels here)

The dynamic I seek: A regular FWB type of thing,in a secondary format, where my wife is the woman I adore emotionally and physically, and anyone second to her would be purely physical. They would be welcome in a kitchen table format, but definitely would remain secondary to my wife with whom I’ve built a life and plan to see to the end.

Some questions/thoughts/explanations of caste-related terminology and dynamics for my fellow anti-casteists.
  1. My first question relates to South Indian caste dynamics which I feel like are often ignored or not addressed very well by the mainstream anti-caste movement in India which seems to focus mainly on the North Indian Vedic caste model. So first for some background: Unlike in North India, where the landowning and merchant castes were considered ritually pure by the Brahmins, who thus classified them as Kshatriyas and Vaishyas, respectively, South Indian Brahmins did not recognize the ritual purity of the local landowning and merchant castes such as the Reddys, Vellammas, and Kammas in AP/Telangana, the Nairs in Kerala, and the Vellalars and Balija Naidus in Tamil Nadu. These castes were considered Shudras as were all non-Brahmin, non-Dalit castes in South India. (The reason for this which makes Brahmins very uncomfortable is that many South Indian Brahmins traditionally didn't consider themselves South Indians at all, they believed themselves to be Aryans and thus considered other Dravidian South Indians to be impure and thus 'Shudra'). It is however believed that there was a hierarchy within the Shudras, with the landowning and merchant castes of the South being considered 'Sat-Shudras', or Shudras of "pure being". While these Sat-Shudra castes were severely discriminated against by Brahmins in certain instances, they nonetheless formed the bulk of the ruling class in South India historically and even in the present day (at least in AP/Telangana which is the context I am most familiar with). Their relationship with the anti-caste movement is kind of complicated. They have committed many atrocities against the Dalit and non-Sat Shudra castes, such as the Kilvenmani_massacre and Karamchedu_massacre, but in Tamil Nadu at least most of the ire of the anti-caste movement has historically been directed at the Brahmins and Periyar very much included the Sat-Shudra castes in his Dravidian movement. The Sat-Shudras don't seem particularly sympathetic to the BJP either (the Brahmins in South India are also not as sympathetic to the BJP as the Northie Brahmins but there is some vocal support from a certain segment of 'TamBrahms'). These castes are also considered "general category" by the Indian government and don't receive reservations. In some places they are also referred to as "middle castes".

I would be curious to know if anyone here has any thoughts on

The Definitive Poll: IS STAR CITIZEN A SCAM? See description for terminology and intent

Hello everyone. After 10 years of development, as we approach the 11th annual of this marvelous and mesmerizing enterprise, times are ripe to have all the subscribers to this subreddit participate to the ultimate, definitive poll.

The burning question: Is Star Citizen a scam?

First and foremost, let's pay attention to the terminology, as voters should adhere to the meaning and contest of the word "scam" before casting their votes. According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, "Scam" refers to:

>An illegal plan for making money, especially one that involves tricking people

Therefore, the intent of this poll is to ascertain whether or not citizens believe, in reference to the aforementioned meaning of the word, that is the case for Star Citizen.

So without further ado, CITIZENS OF THE STARS, vote away!

Is Star Citizen an illegal plan for making money, especially one that involves tricking people?

β€œI’m lesbian but I dreamt i kissed Timothee Chalamet. Does that make me bi?β€œ - A PSA of relevant terminology for sexuality because we need it.
  • You are homosexual if you are attracted to someone of your OWN gender (or absence thereof), whatever that may be. A human person. Not a cartoon, please. And, unless otherwise stated (see below) this label accompanies both sexual and romantic attraction.
  • You are heterosexual if you are only attracted to the gender opposite to yours (ie a man to a woman or a woman to a man). You are not heterosexual if you are in any way, shape or form attracted to someone of your own gender. Cartoons don’t count.
  • You are bisexual or pansexual if you are attracted to more than one gender. You don’t have to be attracted to all genders equally or in the same way. We are very chill here. No one really knows the difference between bi and pan these days, but some people make one up anyway. Well, to be pan, it’s gotta be all people. But you can like all people and still identify as bi.
  • You are asexual if you’re not into any of these uhm shenanigans.
  • There are people who are a combination of labels depending on whether their romantic feelings toward a gender is different than their sexual feelings. Here, we have homoromantic (own gender), heteroromantic (opposite gender), biromantic or panromantic (more than one / all), and aromantic (no romantic attraction). This would then be coupled with the appropriate label relating to your sexual feelings. Example: I can hook up with women but can’t date them, I am bisexual heteroromantic.

Things to know:

  • Attraction is not a fleeting thought, a dream, or something you only got this one time. Mostly, once you know yourself (ie you’re an adult), you’ll know which part is conscious and not. It’s harder when you are younger.
  • If you do not feel straight, but don’t know for sure where you land, queer is a good catch all. I was queer for years before I figured it out.
  • A trans woman is a woman and a trans man is a man. It doesn’t matter which stage of their journey they are at. If you are in what you thought was a lesbian relationship, and your partner comes home and says β€œI’m a man”, assuming you’re a woman, that’s a heterosexual relationship. But queer is always available to you if you aren’t comfortable using the straight label. Otherwise, seriously, whatever your relationship would be if you were cis, that’s the correct label.
  • Labels change because you change. You could be lesbian today and bi tomorrow or bi today and straight tomorrow. It’s all about what feels right, it’s not some binding covenant.
  • Your own gende

29 [M4F] Europe/Anywhere. Looking for an online interaction that will hopefully turn into a long term in real life relationship.

Hello,

I think that the most important thing to have in common isn't media preferences or even personalities, but kind of lifestyle we strive for.

Here's what my ideal future lifestyle would look like:

-A house in the country side, away from traffic and in a place where one can see the stars at night. We'd grow our own veggies and try to be as independent as possible.

-A kind of a relationship in which we can share everything including our faults. We'd be proactive about getting to know each other on an increasingly deeper level, until we reach the very core of our beings.

-We'd strive to eat healthy, to exercise and to learn in order to keep our bodies and minds healthy.

-We'd be proactive about avoiding the common pitfalls of relationships. We'd have notes to remind us every day not to take each other for granted, to compliment and to profess our love frequently..

-We won't expect entertainment from each other or from tourist destinations, but rather from projects, from learning and from observing the world from a different perspective.

-We'd seek to better ourselves constantly through philosophy and self-help books. E.g. to be nicer and more considerate, to increase our willpower, to be less needy, to improve as conversationalists, to think more positively, to shift our desires towards the useful.

-We'd retain a certain amount of individuality, being fine with not involving each other in certain interests, hobbies, projects.

-We'd push each other always to do and be better.

All of the above goals may sound intimidating, but they are just goals. I'm nowhere near attaining them, and I would argue that no person can fully attain the goals above. I have a lot of ambitions to achieve and a lot of flaws to mitigate, just as most people do. I'm not looking for someone perfect, but a person whose goals roughly align with my goals, who is willing to tolerate my flaws in exchange for me tolerating their flaws.

Here's some descriptors of me:

I'm an introvert, preferring to have deeper connections and interactions with a select few people.

I think I'm very open-minded, willing to hear out anyone and seek out information that would disprove my opinions and stances.

I try to look at the world and situations objectively, to consider my actions from a third perspective and to align my opinions with the scientific truth.

I like to joke around and talk about simple topics, but I kind of require to talk about deep, meaningful and existential st
