A list of puns related to "Indo Pacific king mackerel"
Hello -
My father-in-law is from Goa. I've been lucky enough to visit Goa with my wife and her family on several occasions and I'm a huge fan of the food. We were talking about how we couldn't go this year and everyone agreed we missed having our daily "rava fry" recently (https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/11654127-king-fish-rava-frygoan-style). I know my father-in-law would really love to have some, but he's very particular about the fish. It's a variant of a mackerel and I'm struggling to figure out where I can get it in the US. It's apparently locally known as kingfish/"vison" and is a form of mackerel local to the area (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Pacific_king_mackerel).
I'm wondering...
Does anyone know where this might be available in the US? This would be a major "treat" item, so I'm expecting to have to spend $ on it.
If not, if you're familiar with the fish, is there an alternative that could be used? I've read Spanish mackerel, but I'm not super versed in how it would compare. I'm game to try, but he's suuuuuper particular about it.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Hi, I usually catch Pacific Mackerel to use as bait with a sabiki rig on piers in SoCal. I was looking to try and catch some mackerel with lures to switch things up a bit, and also I think it might be fun. Are there any tips/lures you guys can offer me to get started on lures, specifically for pacific mackerel? I bought a bumblebee Rooster Tail, an Acme Kastmaster with feathers in gold, a set of Panther Martin spoons, and some vertical jigging spoons, but I haven't gone out and tried them yet.
