Retrospect: Another bombshell album from After the Burial. Evergreen stayed consistent in sound, and they definitely still sound like After the Burial. The good outweighs the bad for this album, and I will absolutely be listening to this on repeat soon. On a positive note, this album sounded amazing. I've always had trouble appreciating the mixing and tone of ATB, but I think it worked really well for this album. The vocals were consistently good and always have been. The riffs in general were all more creative than Dig Deep was IMO. And lastly, the drums were consistently good like always. On the negative side of things, I think ATB suffers heavily from repeating cool ass riffs. This is just an opinion, but I'd love to see some longer, more progressive songs from these guys. Maybe some people enjoy the shorter songs, but that's just me. Another smaller complaint is the lack of experimentation. I know people hate when bands change their sound or step out of their comfort zone, but I think it would do ATB wonders. Maybe try out a new tone, a new mix, throw some clean vocals on there, etc. Don't mistake my opinions for hate, because I will always love and support this band. I'm already getting pumped for the next one.
Rating - 7/10.
I've listened to this song a couple times since it got released, and it still holds up fairly well on the 3rd time around. My only complaint with this song, and much of ATB's music, is the repetitiveness of it. The main riff of this song is absolutely killer and the breakdown and solo were pretty good too. It just loses the excitement after hearing the same riff 5 times in 4 minutes. Although I do absolutely love this song, it's just a personal issue of mine.
I couldn't help myself with this song either; I had to listen to it before the full album release. I was initially kind of disappointed after listening to Behold the Crown, but on my 2nd listen, it's way better. The bendy riff at 0:45 is pretty tasty and the chorus lead riff reminds me of Lost in the Static. This song doesn't suffer fr

What do you guys think of the first ATB album without Justin? Playlist here, if you haven't heard it.
How do you feel about the riffs? Breakdowns? Drum patterns? Lyrics? Production style and sonic quality? Which is your favorite song? How do you think this album compares to their others? Is the band moving in a direction that you are interested in following, or do you enjoy their previous albums more?
edit: I've accepted that I will never get the link markup right the first time.
Ok, so this is something new that I want to start . I'll continue basing that you guys plus the mods like this idea.
Here's what I'll be doing , I'll post a google form(2 weeks after album release mostly) asking for your ratings for the songs and that particular album. It will all be aggregated and we'll get the whole sub's rating for that album/song.
This will really help in determining the AOTY and SOTY later on.
And in the comments, I want you guys to write down the song that you like the most and then other users will upvote that if its a song that they like too.(Its sort of similar to what /r/Progmetal does sometimes)
So , lets get to it!
Here's the form: http://goo.gl/forms/IpPpsXOSZm
Here's the spreadsheet to view other's ratings:link
You can give feedback to this idea in the comment section and also discuss Dig Deep.

I've only been listening to this album by them so far and I'm really liking it so far, which one of their albums have the same mix of melody, rhythm and complexity in song structure?
There is a fine line for me between between the heavyness and melody when it comes to progressive metal music. It started with the first Animals as Leaders album which most of you might know is pretty progressive and melodic. I'm looking for more of that sort of thing.
My favourite songs on this album are probably Cursing Akenaten, Aspiration and A Vicious Reforming of Features (my favourite).
Any suggestions?
