How does the diesel filled hull of a Merkava Mark 4 tank help protect it against a High explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead?

A guy I work with told me that one of the professors at the university he attended had said the Israeli used a diesel filled hull on their tanks to help protect against HEAT warheads. And they do according to this (and other similar) webpage(s).

I couldn't find any useful information to how this improves protection against such weaponry. So guys and gals, how does this work?

TIL "Antigrain Warheads" are powerful explosives named after grains of anti-matter, not warheads meant to target plants...

Just thought I'd share my discovery of the day, in case there are other people as dense as me...

I've played Rimworld for 100s of hours and only just realized this today. I never bothered with antigrain warheads because why would I want to destroy plants?

Would HEAT (High-Explosive Anti-Tank) be effective against the Flood?

Someone in a discord server I'm in asked the question "what would be your weapon of choice if you had to fight the flood," and expected to get answers in terms of small arms. He had to specify this because the first two answers he got were "tactical nuke" and "The Warp." In keeping with answering in terms of very large arms, I asked how effective HEAT would be against the flood, initially as a bit of a joke... but now I'm actually curious. Tl;dr, someone in discord asked what weapons we'd use against the flood, I jokingly said HEAT, and now I'm curious.

HEAT (high explosive anti-tank) ammo for Tempest / Molot / Molot-T

This would be a cool powercell activated ammo enhancement for these guns and maybe Nashorn / Kang Dae as well. Could be paired with a really cool visual / audio effect on impact. Could either ignore physical armor or do quadruple damage to physical armor (instead of double).

I don't see it being game breaking given how rarely you see these guns on the field.

Would human body be able to activate a HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank) shell?

Ok, so i will be very specific about this. Would a HEAT shell be activated by human body and what would happened to body itself if it was activated?

I will take german WW2 HEAT shell fired from low-velocity 75mm gun for instance.

There are four scenarios - man standing on open and get shot in stomach, man standing on open and get shot in chest, man standing with wall behind him and get shot in stomach, man standing with wall behind him and get shot in chest

I know HEAT shells are activated after a few millimetres of steal, but what about flesh?
