A list of puns related to "Direct2Drive"
I've searched on r/gamedeals posts, and even on the game deals store checker website, but I haven't found the answer nor its presence on the website. However, I've noticed that it's listed on the Subreddit flags, and it's been advertised on the community before.
I'm skeptical due to the lack of conviction or even mention on their own website about authorizations and refund policies (It doesn't refund). Can someone tell me the truth and their experiences with the store?
Despite the responses here, I believe it should be mentioned on https://rgamedeals.net/ as its true identity.
D2D has a deal on VC4 for 4 euros which is a really nice price. But everyone who purchased the game received invalid keys. You received a key that doesn't follow the Steam key format
The original post from /r/GameDeals was removed due to many receiving invalid keys. But I thought maybe we should have a thread to read about the status of this incident.
I sent them a support ticket about an hour ago and received nothing yet from them apart from their automated response

First edit: Several games have the same problem. The mods have temporary blocked all submission on D2D until they have figured out what's going on

Sorry to go on a rant here. Not long ago, Direct2Drive had a sale on Fallout 3: Game of the Year edition. I thought "Great! I can finally get the game at a good price with all of the DLC unlocked - just install and play!"
Last night I decided to finally install it, and noticed that Direct2Drive has a "Steam Like" install system called Gamespy Comrade. Well, why not? I like the idea of just clicking a button and letting the game install. So I downloaded and installed the tool and - off to the races.
Except - first thing is it started showing me every game I had installed on the system. Not just the stuff that I could grab from Direct2Drive. Nothing personal but - no. Do not want. I just want to see the games I can play through your interface. Don't go searching my hard drive without asking me first.
But there it was - Fallout 3! Granted, game title was just Fallout 3, while the cover it was showing me was Game of the Year Edition. But no worried - click to download, saw there were 5 GB to install, and went off to bed.
This morning I checked in on it. Wants to go through an installation process, I'll go back to the Gamespy Comrade and copy/paste the registration key-
Only they don't show the registration key. Unlike Steam, which usually auto-unlocks it, or Impulse, which lets you easily see your serial number, Gamespy Comrade doesn't. So I went back to my registration archives where I kept the serial number, copy, paste, and I'm back in business.
Oh, wait - there's a patch to install too? Oh, all right. Don't know why it couldn't have downloaded a pre-patched version already, but hey - just another click. Patched, now I'm ready!
"Xlive.dll error." Installing the patch causes an error. Oh, don't you know, silly John? The patch puts on some Windows Live elements that break the game! You need to go download the actual Windows Live from the Microsoft web site!
Granted, it would have been nice if Gamespy Comrade, the downloader program, would just do that. But noooooo.
Fine. Installed Live. Launched Fallout 3 GOTY edition. Finally! And, being as anal as I am, before starting my game, I checked the downloads section. Oh, first you have to log into Windows Live! And -
They're not there. My DLC addons, the ones that come for free with the GOTY edition? Not there - but hey, I can buy them from Windows Live!
I go back to Gamespy Comrade. Yup - there's my game. Where's my DLC? Oh, that's right, silly boy - you have to download the DLC as a separate 2 GB d

I had $180 in (2) paypal transactions charged (and immediately refunded) from Direct2Drive's merchant Xsolla today with no explanation. I did NOT make these charges. Now my money is stuck in limbo for days processing the refund. I only ever bought one game from them, earlier this month. Before you say I got phished: there were no purchases showing in my D2D history past my (only) authentic purchase on 12/16. Of course they don't even have a phone number to call, and they haven't responded to e-mails. Their merchant, on the other hand, I got on the horn in like 2 minutes. Of course, all they could tell me was that the requests came from D2D, and all they could do is delete my info so it couldn't happen again.
tl;dr: either they are having massive server side issues, or they are breached. Either way, don't buy from these guys.
