The UN resolutions come up regularly, Israel is a particularly noxious country as evidenced by all the UN resolutions, yadda yadda yadda. I wanted to point out that Israel faces blatant discrimination. The UN's should be viewed as an enemy of Israel's whose opinion on it should carry no moral weight. • United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 2012-2017 the UNGA passed 150 resolutions condemning countries for actions against a people. 124 of these resolutions, 82.67%, of all condemnatory resolutions, were against Israel. In neighboring Syria the Syrian regime killed 500k of its own population the UNGA passed a resolution condemning outside interference or threats to Syrian territorial integrity. It instructed the world that the Syrian internal political process was the sole legitimate means of ending the Syrian Civil War. Israel's process conversely was said to demand UN supervision. It is also worth noting for those who consider Palestine a state there are 0 resolutions against the PA or Hamas ever.

• United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) 2006-2015 UNHRC held 17 emergency sessions, seven of which targeted Israel. Israel is the only country in the world with a permanent item on the UNHRC agenda. The bias against Israel has been so bad that the USA withdrew its membership, this being a committee that the USA historically had very strong ties to.

• UN Peacekeeping Operations There are 14 peacekeeping operations in the world. 3 target Israel. United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) sits on Israel's border with Syria. United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) sits on Israel's border with Lebanon. United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) prevents the 1947-9 war from restarting supposedly, no I'm not kidding. UNIFIL has worked with Israel's enemy Hezbollah. UNTSO has engaged in illegal construction in Jerusalem.

• United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO) this is essentially a PA propaganda arm. UNSCO's position is that Israel bears sole responsibility for the crises in the West Bank and Gaza. By charter it acts as a spokesman for Palestinian state-building efforts. It regularly condemns Israeli settlement expansion. Every time the aim assist (AA) debate comes up, there's so many misconceptions about how AA even works being passed around that it's hard to have a proper discussion about it.

The purpose of this post, therefore, is to serve as a comprehensive breakdown of (1) how AA works, and (2) a summary of all the common arguments surrounding it, including all possible rebuttals I'm aware of. Sources are linked in-text when available. Please keep in mind that while I try to maintain as objective of a lens in the first half as possible, I personally do not think it's possible for me to do so when describing arguments on AA; therefore, there will inevitably be bias in the second half, which I invite you to poke holes into.

My goal is that whenever someone posts a bad-faith argument or outright incorrect information about AA, that you can just link them to this post (or copypaste from it) and not have to bother typing a reply to something that's been said a million times already.

A little disclaimer about myself to clarify any possible biases I may have. I am a Masters Mouse & Keyboard (MnK) player with mostly other MnK friends, but we have a few in our friend group who are on console or use controller. I have myself played on console but only casually, with probably around 100-200 hours on console Apex, all in pubs. My console K/D is higher, but this can easily be attributed to being put in easier lobbies most of the time. I personally disagree with the way AA is implemented in Apex, but I would not consider myself an anti-AA extremist by any means.

How Aim Assist Works

If you haven't watched "What 100% Aim Assist looks like in Apex Legends", do yourself a favor and watch it. If you don't feel like watching it, that's okay, I'm going to break down everything it discusses in finer detail, but it might help to see it in action. Note that the 100% AA section uses R5 Reloaded, which is a modded version of Apex that uses the same source code as Season 3. R5 Reloaded's AA algorithm is therefore exactly the same as Apex's, as the current AA algorithm is identical to S3's.

We lament about how dope they were in the Golden Era (and they were), but convenient amnesia has us forget all the times they clashed. Some would argue that it made for a good podcast, and sometimes it did. Other times, not so much.

I’m not absolving Joe of his missteps, he definitely fumbled a business and a personal relationship with 2 people that helped him build his empire. All that “accounting” shit (and subsequent episodes shitting on them) was unnecessarily nasty.

I honestly think that if R&M and Joe parted ways like Savon, the fans wouldn’t have split like they did. No angry unsubs and Anti-Joe media campaigns saying how shitty of a friend and businessman he is.

As a reader I personally find it very difficult to separate the art from the artist. I mean I started finding Henry Cavill not sexy after I read what he said about Metoo (that men can't be men and court women anymore BECAUSE of metoo. Maybe have some awareness Henry! )

(I know its a me thing. I know it is not universal, I am not prescribing that everyone should be this way. If you can separate the art from the artist, I get it, you do you and I am never going to judge anyone. Like Penny Reid. She has had wierd slut shaming in her books, some comments mocking Native Americans in her WB books and even mention of White supremacists "Sk*nheads" multiple times in 1st WB books. She also doubled down when people criticized her representation of a Latina heroine in 2nd book of WB. She did eventually apologize but her apology was very check the box imho. She is known for being 'progressive' but I know people can be progressive when it comes to gender politics, especially white women, but be totally ignorant when it comes to race and not understand racial intersectionality with gender.

She has also made some 'not like other girls' comments about herself - my books are smart, I am not like other romance authors. Like Ma'am, Helen Hoang went to Cornell, Courtney Milan was a full fledged lawyer, Kennedy Ryan had multiple careers pre becoming a romance authors. Not that this is the only way to show 'intelligence', but even by her own standards, there are plenty of accomplished authors. Authors who never put others down to elevate themselves.

I have a situation where I need to use a fine-pitch leadscrew to very precisely push and pull on a hydraulic plunger (for a micropositioner-style device). This is essentially a microhydraulic actuator that is controlled by fluid in a syringe-style chamber; I'm pushing and pulling on the "syringe plunger."

I need to be able to disengage the nut from the screw to allow for coarse manual motion of the syringe plunger, so this implies a mechanism likely along the lines of a lever-actuated split nut with a detent spring---pull and hold the lever to open the nut, move nut+block along screw to desired position, then let go of the lever to re-engage the nut to the screw (with perhaps a small wiggle to let the nut fall fully into the threads).

However, with this design I do not see a way of incorporating the typical anti-backlash mechanism of two nuts with preload between them. That is, the moment I'd disengage the nuts, the spring would push the pair all the way apart, removing all anti-backlash preload from the nut pairs while also misaligning them to the screw threads.

While it's indeed possible to remove any leftover backlash in software, these micropositioners are near-constantly performing back-and-forth motions, and taking up the basklash slack so frequently by quickly spinning the motor to the "other end" of the backlash results in nonzero amounts of visible jitter whenever their motion is reversed.

TLDR: Do any of you happen to know a nut mechanism that allows for both nut disengagement from a fine-pitch leadscrew and re-engagement anywhere along the screw length, while also mechanically reducing backlash as much as possible?

PART 1: Introduction

I have played Genshin nearly every day since its launch over a year ago. I have seen how the game and its community has developed during this time. Even though complaints are unavoidable in any game, I found that the same complaints in Genshin have popped up time and time again. Also, as evident by the backlash during the anniversary event, many Genshin players were unhappy with aspects of the game and the direction it was headed in. One category of these complaints, both before and in Inazuma, is frustrating enemy design. My analysis will consist of many things I have read in Reddit threads, but also with some of my own experiences and inferences.

I know that this analysis will have a lot of nitpicks here and there, but I believe that every single bad experience can combine to form an unenjoyable experience. I also believe that every bad experience will lead to a loss of a small percentage of players which will accumulate over time. This is both damaging to the community as it tarnishes the game’s reputation and means less revenue for Mihoyo. YouTuber Josh Strife Hayes has an excellent video about bad experiences in “The Quit Moment - Why Games Lose Players” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhQ_jKFnFSU). He argues that “if you were a games designer would you actively choose to leave a system in the design in the live service of the game that could potentially lose you money?”.

I have started this analysis near the start of Inazuma’s release (early-mid 2.0) and been off and on for several months. I have both been happy with the nerfs to a few of Inazuma’s mobs but also disappointed that many of my complaints were still violated with 2.1 onwards. Hope you’re doing okay, or better.

This week it’s been 4 years since my first manic episode. Since then, I haven’t relapsed.

I’ll try to keep this short, but it will probably be a bit longer since I want to write everything that I would have wanted to read 4 years ago. Here we go:

My maniac episode was quite severe. It was likely triggered by the stress of a new job, harassment at the workplace, being on anti-anxiety medication, and smoking a lot of weed. It led to me trying to get my bad boss fired, doing some exciting things in public, and then hospitalization, against my will, for two months.

Here’s a list of the bad things that followed:

- Lost my job and my license to practice my profession, mainly due to my boss. This was 2 months after going to school for many years to get my professional license. Unemployment lasted almost 2 and a half years.

- Moved back in with my parents at 30 years old. That was the last place I wanted to be.

- Felt absolutely crippled by post mania depression and a bad reaction to antipsychotics that words cannot describe.

- Laid in bed for around 20 hours a day for 8 months.

- Punched a lot of walls and cried a lot of tears.

- Got pretty serious about suicide.

The turning point:

For me, it was having a good psychiatrist. They acknowledged that my reaction to the antipsychotics was unsustainable and was open to me trying other medications. I currently only take Lamictal (200 mg). They told me, as I’m sure you know, Lamictal doesn’t offer a ton of protection against manic relapse. Their first choice was Lithium, but I had some say in the matter, so we went with Lamictal. I’ve been on this Lamictal only regiment now for over 3 years. I take acute anti-anxiety meds (Clonazepam) when I feel I’m getting too stressed. This happens usually once a month. I try hard (and often fail hard) to employ all the typical relapse prevention strategies, but I won’t bore you with those.

An important side story regarding lithium: I had a friend in university who, when I met him, had just started Lithium after his first maniac attack. For the 3 years that I knew him, he was the happiest and most productive person in my class, despite having more stressors than most neurotypical people could manage (e.g. difficult academic program + unplanned baby + increasing debts, etc.).

DOUBLE EDIT: Thank, all. I ended up figuring it out. I turned off Steam input for Infinite in controller preferences, and turned my deadzones down until I actually had a little drift. Turns out the game doesn't engage AA unless it detects controller input. The drift on my Xbone controller was enough to engage it. AA engages and disengages seemingly instantaneously when controller input is detected or not. My movement on the look stick is really "flicky". I make a lot of little movements and then let the stick go back to center instead of smooth, constant movement. So in my video tests, I essentially was turning AA on and off with the Wolverine because each time I did a little micro adjustment, I got AA and then lost it when I let the stick go. Whereas with the Xbone controller, I had constant stick drift, which the game read as controller input and constantly had AA engaged. So I actually turned down my deadzones to the point where I have a very very very tiny bit of drift and the Wolverine got AA like in the video. I think Steam input may have done some weird stuff to acceleration curves, too, because disabling that seemed to really bring the feel in line with the Xbone controller.

Aim assist in Halo Infinite is a topic rife with debate. Wherever you fall in this debate, I think I've found something that I couldn't dig up any info on and wanted to get the community's input. I don't want to wade into the merits of having aim assist for controllers, I just want to focus on why there seems to be a difference between two particular controllers (and possibly others) and see if anyone else has experienced this. I know there are some PC controller players out there that have said they feel like there is zero aim assist in this game, and I'm wondering if this is why.

I play on PC. I had been using a standard Xbox One controller, but I wanted to get one with paddles and hopefully less stick drift. Found a good deal on the Razer Wolverine Ultimate and bought it. I played a few games and it just didn't feel right in comparison to the Xbox One controller. I played with every setting, I tried the "agile" vs "focus" settings that the Wolverine Ultimate has, I tried messing with drivers. My aim just felt so wildly different on the Wolverine. I'm no aim god, but I'm normally 55% - 60%, so not terrible.

Projective Cover (E): Opens a map like Brimstone's smoke menu. Left click to draw a curve on it up to a certain length. Right click after drawing to summon a holographic wall that makes enemies behind it invisible to you (and vice versa), following the drawn path. After 15s the wall drops and goes on cool down for redeployment later (which can be drawn in a new location). Shooting through the wall briefly disrupts the hologram in that area to allow people to see through. [1]

Skynet (C): Click to summon a nano-drone cover where you're looking a short distance from you that reflects enemy projectiles with half their momentum, but not bullets. Disengages after some time. [2]

Amplifier (Q): Summon another set of nano-drones that create a field. Shooting through the field amplifies outgoing damage like stim beacon and also increases wall penetration. [3]

Ult (X): Projective Cover becomes a one-way smoke, where teammates can see enemies on the other side, but are obscured to the enemies. [4]

[1] I also thought maybe an enemy who shoots the screen could be revealed (if they would be directly visible) to those hiding behind the screen, which could possibly allow for some deceptive plays. Visually, the screen would be nearly invisible, but have subtle effects to indicate its presence. I wanted to rethink what smokes could be, so instead of being opaque to obscure vision, they could be transparent but render people invisible.

I've been watching a lot about the design of ADCs and I genuinely think the ADC Mythics were a step in the right direction - but they're still mid/late game focused items. Shieldbow accomplishes anti-burst and sustain, Galeforce accomplishes mobility and execution, and Kraken Slayer has ended the reign of terror tanks have had on ADCs for so long.

ADCs pre-mythic just feel bad, however. As to compensate, I have ideas for some starter items that could fix their issues.

Only ranged champions should be able to purchase these items, and upon purchasing one should not be able to buy anymore (since buying all 3 with a support like thresh or lux would be unfair).

Yes I did name the passives off of what I want them to do/cause the enemy to do, yes I find it funny.

For those interested I'm going to rant about the design theory behind these items.

There are three main classes of supports - enchanters, engage supports, and carry supports. Of course, these theoretical items correlate to the three classes of supports - The Quiver of Vitality for enchanters, Trapper's Bow for engage supports, and the Mercy Rifle for carry supports. While it is possible to use these items when paired with supports of a different classification or hybrid classifications such as Pyke, they are most effective paired with their respective support.

The Quiver of Vitality is activated by any healing/shielding from external sources, meaning it is literally useless alongside allies that don't have healing/shielding. The attack speed amp is meant to be used by the types of adcs that are strongest with enchanters (typically on-hit or crit adcs like vayne, kog'maw, jinx, etc). These adcs build lethal tempo or PTA and are usually as strong as their attack speed

Ok so, this morning i had the time to do a quick sneak into the PBE and check how riot changed Janna, and although many changes felt kinda eh, there was a little one that really surprised me in how it's going to hugely change her way of being built, but not of being played.

Her E passive now, instead of reducing 20% of the shield's cooldown when impairing enemies, gives 20% shielding power for a few seconds. At first i had barely seen the difference, thought it was appreciated but not as relevant until the later stages of the game, and that she had became another very forgiving enchanter (because her W range is also increased now), but after thinking about it for a while I've starting seeing clearly.

Her new E still maintained the Soraka effect: like her she needs to constantly hit her enemies to fully take advantage of her shield, but that's not all: Janna is a midline enchanter, she keeps going in and out of fights.

I've dropped the idea of a comet + shurelyas Janna and started mumbling, until i remembered: glacial augment now scales with shielding power, and Janna has plenty of cc.

This means that she is gonna be the enchanter that takes the most out of it when successfully comboed with her W, plus, since she slows the enemy more and her roaming identity + movespeed scalings got kinda shut down, she may start building moonstone more often.

Now if you add together an AOE slow + damage reduction, her E shield buff and moonstone's shield buff + healing... She might be a very interesting champion to play, maybe even more rewarding than before, to the point of receiving a fat 55% shielding power with one item if you manage to remain in the middle of a fight for long enough. Also, her new movespeed towards allies is gonna help her with that.

This is gonna give her a massive freedom in regards of runes choice:

• Guardian to abuse the massive shield increase
• Aery for the shield increase + a bit more trading power in lane
• Glacial Augment for the reasons above, mainly for disengage/anti assassin
• Comet for max poke with W in lane

What are your thoughts about it? I think she's gonna be very interesting and unique

Finally, Destroyer Captains can rejoice, a Tier 7 Premium Destroyer that's actually worth crowing about.

Friesland represents one half of the Element of Choice Campaign in v 3.7. Friesland is the first tier 7 ship available for the Pan-European National Tree, joining Orkan, Blyskawica as the only available ships so far. Conceptually, Friesland sort of resembles a more gunnery specific mindset than her European counterparts. Captains will certainly feel the absence of torpedoes, though will be enchanted by her gunnery. Friesland is similar to Orkan, in the sense that her playstyle is quite polarized while she is not very forgiving and is somewhat well gated by a skill wall. Friesland is a GREAT ship, with a HIGH skill floor and an EXTREME skill ceiling.

History:

Named after a northern province in the Netherlands and class namesake, Friesland was the fourteenth ship of the name. Laid down in 1951 at Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij [NDSM] in Amsterdam, and commissioned in 1956. The ship served until 1979 when it was broken up for scrap. The design featured use of a pair of twin dual-purpose Bofors 120mm Naval Guns one fore and one aft. The gun first entered service in 1956 and is still in service today. Friesland was the only ship of her class that was not sold to the Peruvian Navy.

Basically, I'm getting married in the spring, and my cousin who I am pretty close with is quietly refusing to be vaccinated.

He is in the wedding party, and doesn't know that vaccines are required to attend the venue. We don't really talk about these things, but I have heard through family that he is definitely not getting vaccinated (at this point I have no idea the reasoning).

Normally I am frustrated with the anti-vax crowd especially when my fiance is a nurse who directly deals with COVID on a daily basis. At this point I am so exhausted with all the logical fallacies, and horrible arguments that people I know throw at me that I have essentially disengaged in arguments (seems futile), however this circumstance with my cousin is different. I would really like him to come to my wedding, I almost made him my best man.

I am going to visit him in a few weeks, and my plan is to bring up the restrictions and try to convince him to get vaccinated, so having said that, what are some of the talking points most anti vaxers bring up that I should be prepared for.

Assuming the goal of this conversation is to show how silly these alternative arguments are, what kinds of resources should I use?

1. He crossed state lines with a gun - False, the gun was already in WI. It was a straw man purchase by his friend. His friend will be charged with fellony.

2. It's illegal to carry a long barrel gun at 17 - WI statute has an exception for a 17 year old.

3. He went there to murder people - for this you need evidence. Prosecusions witnesses bolstered KRs case and helped self defense. There are witnesses and video showing KR actually helping protestors and their wounds. He admitted he lied about being an EMT in one video. (He is an EMT/figherfighter cadet).

On a continuation of Legendary Tier Reviews during v 3.10, which this review encompasses MN DD Kleber. Kleber is an unforgiving, untamed monster capable of dominating many situations in capable hands. Kleber is a GREAT ship, with a HIGH skill floor and an EXTREME skill ceiling.

As a reminder, Legendary Tier ships are not considered Premium Ships and as such are subject to balance changes. Kleber recently underwent a nerf which reduced her torpedo range from 8km to 6km. I acquired Kleber upon completing her bureau project some time ago.

Captains, you will see the current customized LT metric which includes a pair of lists, one short featuring just LT, and a larger list which incorporates LT and Tier VII.

Ordered as an improvement off of the 2 existing Mogador-Class Destroyers, (Mogador, Volta) the Kleber Class was inherited to feature improvements made through lessons learned through wartime experience. 4 ships were ordered, some, originally intended to feature 130mm guns. The ship's construction and design were subsequently halted after the French surrender in 1940. The ship was never built.

The Mogador Class was a larger (300t), faster improvement over Le Fantasque Class which featured larger dimensions and improved propulsion systems; and conversion of Le Fantasque's 5x single open mount 139mm main battery into 4 (super-firing, 2 fore, 2 aft) semi enclosed twin-turrets featuring the Canon de 138 modele 1929.

The Basics:

What chalks herself up to be arguably one of the highest skill floor destroyers, Kleber's difficulties mount quite high, but is only eclipsed by her outside influence on the battle. Capable of pushing 50+ knots, Kleber is the fastest ship in the game currently, and this alone allows her to have an outsized role in map control and area denial. Kleber's speed allows her to contest critical areas of the map in ways that other ships just cannot as they would not be able to close specific gaps on the map in time, and the result is getting caught awkwardly out in the open.
