A list of puns related to "Air Conditioning (album)"
it jacks up the prices if you use electricity during the "peak times". Electricity demand is only going to increase every year as more people adopt EVs and you bet that your electric bill is not going to cheap. So do we need an alternative fuel (like hydrogen?) to power our vehicles, and ensure there's some competition in who provides that fuel?
So my HOA has 82 units built in 1970. The old heating system is radiated ceiling heat and doesnβt work. I have been living without heating or air conditioning for about 5 years. I submitted an architectural request way back at the end of August 2021. The HOA never responded even after submitting 4 times, without a response until December when I sent an email demanding a response and approval. They suddenly rejected it stating nonexistent rules and how an attorney needed to approve standards blah blah blah. Little did they know I put in my system at the end of December without their approval. How do you ask? Well our CC&Rs state that without anything in writing within 60 days - itβs deemed approved. The silence during the meeting was golden. I am the treasurer of the board, but that didnβt help me at all. In fact - it probably hurt me because I wouldnβt let up. I happened to mention that a nonresponse (nothing in writing) constitutes an approval after 60 days! I work in the legal field as a legal assistant so my background definitely helped. I also have a handful of rental properties so I know a small piece about legal habitability standards. I received a call from the heating and a/c company about an overzealous architectural committee member that was calling around asking for an βexpert witnessβ and of course going nowhere. This may not be over yet, but I consider this a victory!! Edit: I got it installed just before new years eve in 2020 :-)
Viewing a house which is only heated upstairs by vented air conditioning units, from the pictures it looks like a small disks in the ceiling of each room. Have never seen or heard about this in the UK before.
Does anyone have one themselves or know more about it? Pros and cons? Is it a cost effective way of heating rooms? There are no radiators so the sole heat source upstairs is the aircon.
Seems so alien to me!
The downstairs is solely heated by underfloor heating - again, any pros and cons from people that have it? Is it cost efficient?
Thanks in advance.
Hi there. I know absolutely bubkis about cars. Currently I have a 2002 Buick Century that does it's job well, it gets me from point A to point B, but it has issues and lots of them, so eventually (within this year or next depending on just how bad the used car market continues to be) I'm going to be needing another car.
Now I've really tried every possible way to find out what car has some serious kick ass reliable air conditioning along with the car itself being also kick ass and reliable but haven't really found that "it" car I'm looking for. All I'm really looking at getting is something just "new" enough so I that I can connect my phone's Bluetooth to the speakers and get some tunes and something that has a reliable air conditioning situation.
Give me any suggestions y'all have and or questions that could help out with suggestions, I appreciate any input that can be given!
There's a faint odor when I turn on my air conditioning. I know it's coming from my car and not the surroundings because it always smells the same, whether I'm driving or in park. I don't know how to describe the smell either. It smells like dust if that's a thing. I drive a 2004 Toyota Solara
These poor people - it makes no sense.
My old thermostat appears like it's finally taken a crap. The LCD screen is not displaying properly and occasionally when it does the temperature is way off. It's an old Emmerson unit (2012/2013-ish). The Air Conditioner itself was also replaced in 2012/2013 (air handler model: Goodman awuf300516ba). I've been trying to replace it (thermostat) for some time, but every thermostat I've wanted to install has come up as "incompatible". This new development has forced my hand so I started looking into it more and it appears like the major reason I cannot have a new/modern thermostat (like a NEST or an EcoBee) is because my current pinout on the thermostat doesn't have a c wire. The wires I DO have include:
From what I am looking at right now, the only wire I am missing for a modern thermostat is the common/c wire.
So my question is, how can I tell if my A/C (air handler?) has a connection for the c wire to be run? Am I SOL because of the age of the air handler? Does the thermostat even go back to the air handler? I have a A/C guy coming out tomorrow to look at the unit, but I want to have information in my pocket so I don't get taken for a ride tomorrow. Any anecdotes would be super helpful!
Update:
Had A/C guys come out and look at the system and try to determine the situation. There are two factors preventing me from using an newer/more modern Thermostat:
So basically, as long as I have this heat pump, I am not going to be able to have a more modern thermostat that can do fancy things. I looked at costs out of curiosity to replace the heat pump and while it's feasible for me to do it to "Upgrade" the condo, it would ultimately be a waste of money at this point because the old heat pump heats and cools just fine. I am looking for a 1 for 1 replacement of the thermostat now. Super disappointing outcome.
Update 2:
For context, in case it wasn't clear from above, I live in a condo but it's an apartment building style condo. Air conditioner condensers are located on the roof and the wiring and other components are run through a 4 story build to the individual units

Recently adopted a kitten. We live on the 7th floor of an apartment so basically windows open are a no- we have a sliding glass door to a balcony, and then a βhopperβ window which is low near the baseboards (I googled window types LOL, but itβs rectangular and opens like that). Third open-able window is our bedroom which is a high up hopper window and the only one is ever feel comfortable with having open as thereβs not really any space for a cat to climb up and out, but we still keep it closed for now.
We live in BC Canada and itβs freezing so no need to open windows anyways, but BCβs heat dome last summer was HORRIBLE (I had to sleep with a wet towel on me and a fan blowing at me). With climate change this is likely going to happen again as we also had extreme storms this winter. The heat was seriously unbearable and I know it would be uncomfortable for animals too as stats showed several died because of the heatdome. I would love a portable apartment style AC unit and have looked into seals for windows on Amazon etc.
Is this a safe route/cat proof? My worst fear is the cat ripping through the seal and falling out the window. Is it better to just invest in a billion fan to attempt to cool down our place? Iβm thinking months ahead, but this is because everywhere was sold out of AC units when this happened last time and I want to prepared.
My new born is struggling to get to sleep in this heat and humidity. Does anyone know of any reputable and affordable air conditioning rental companies?
my door is always open.
Anyone come up with any ways to cool off feet during summer? Iβm thinking of buying a foot spa and putting ice in it, but does anyone else have any ideas?
I am only 29 weeks, and we have at least 6 more weeks of hot weather coming our way.
