A list of puns related to "Abu Bakr II"
Is there any reason why the Mansa Musa, who ruled the Empire of Mali in the 14th century, invented his imaginary stepbrother Mansa Abu Bakr II from nowhere and put him to sail across the Atlantic Ocean even though there is no any evidence that a person with this name has ever lived or that it ever happened? What was Mansa Musaβs possible motive and what was he trying to get with this tale?
Hi y'all, I'm trying to get Abu Bakr II achievement, I need to have 4 colonial subjects in South America as Mali. I started very well, in 1520 I have now 2 colonies (3 if Portugal was not an asshole). I see in wiki that I need one subjects in every regions, it is true? And I need to make my colony vassals or Commercial Company? It is the same thing?
I have all four required colonies (peru, colombia, brazil, la plata) and the achievement still hasnt fired for me. Is there any way i can fix this? It says 3/4 colonial nations when i clearly have all four.

OTL: Abu Bakr vanishes in a naval expedition to explore the Atlantic, paving the way for the rise of Mansa Musa, most famous and prosperous of the kings of Mali.
ATL: Abu Bakr returns with news of discovering a strange Western land with climate comparable to Africa, but with a lighter skinned people.
What are the long term historical consequences for Islamic Mali reaching the New World 180 years before Colombus?
Iβm pretty sure iβve got all the dlc except emperor and i started as mali. Was it added in emperor?
Abu Bakr II abdicated the throne of Mali in in 1311 in order to discover the "limits of the ocean". He set out with 2,000 ships (surely not an exaggeration) and never returned.
But what if he did? What if Abu Bakr II found South America, would the Malians have been able to exploit this knowledge to their advantage or would it have been a historical footnote to explain some African artifacts in South America.
So I'm attempting this achievement (get 4 colonial nations with their capitals in South America as Mali) and I'm confused as to why this is listed as "very easy" on the wiki. You're racing the most powerful countries in Europe to colonize as an African nation that's two institutions behind them.
Is there a strategy I'm missing here that makes this easy?
Also how many failed expeditions do we know about? Surely not everyone who tried crossing actually made it.
Hi :) I just finished Abu Bakr IIβs Ambition with Mali an became an African Superpower. I own almost all Africa and South America. The year is 1601. Any suggestions for further achievements I can still do?

While reading about the fabulously wealthy King of Mali, I saw a quote from a biographer about the king's father. Apparently he became convinced that there was an edge to the Atlantic and after one unsuccessful expedition, set it to discover it himself. What would drive him to do that, and what was he expecting to find?

>Abu Bakr II (fl. 14th century), also spelled Abubakri and known as Mansa Qu, may have been the ninth mansa of the Mali Empire. He succeeded his nephew Mansa Mohammed ibn Gao and preceded Mansa Musa. Abu Bakr II abdicated his throne in order to explore "the limits of the ocean".
>The Arab-Egyptian scholar Al-Umari[1] quotes Mansa Musa as follows:
>The ruler who preceded me did not believe that it was impossible to reach the extremity of the ocean that encircles the earth (meaning Atlantic), and wanted to reach that (end) and obstinately persisted in the design. So he equipped two hundred boats full of men, as many others full of gold, water and victuals sufficient enough for several years. He ordered the chief (admiral) not to return until they had reached the extremity of the ocean, or if they had exhausted the provisions and the water. They set out. Their absence extended over a long period, and, at last, only one boat returned. On our questioning, the captain said: 'Prince, we have navigated for a long time, until we saw in the midst of the ocean as if a big river was flowing violently. My boat was the last one; others were ahead of me. As soon as any of them reached this place, it drowned in the whirlpool and never came out. I sailed backwards to escape this current.' But the Sultan would not believe him. He ordered two thousand boats to be equipped for him and for his men, and one thousand more for water and victuals. Then he conferred on me the regency during his absence, and departed with his men on the ocean trip, never to return nor to give a sign of life.[6]
Could be coincidence but I think it's possible that GRRM read about this from somewhere (pop history book maybe?) and got this idea.
I want to do a colonial Muslim run and also want to have a aim for an achievment. Out of the two in the title which one do you think is more fun. In other words granada or mali.
Abu Bakr II abdicated his throne in order to explore the limits of the ocean.
So let's say he made it to the America and made it back to tell everyone about the new world. If word got to Musa I, would he care? Would the Malians try to expand their empire into the New World? Would they not? What do you guys think?
