A list of puns related to "3rd Rock From The Sun"
I'm almost through season one right now (was a casual viewer when it first aired) and the show has been hitting on a lot of marks.
Lithgow is just great with his overzealous absurdity, and I gotta say French Stewart kills it with his physical comedy/slight mannerisms (like a discount Kramer), idiocy and overall look. Kristen Johnston is great at playing up her newfound sexuality and exploring her femininity and relationships. Gordon-Levitt is great too, and it's just wild to see him so young again (and in one episode declaring he's now black as he sits there playing the blues).
I think it's actually a pretty poignant take on humanity and society at times. And it is a LOT dirtier and filled with innuendos then I remembered. As aliens studying humans, they're all so preoccupied with sex and it actually touches on some interesting and heavier topics like consent and gender roles. It also has a couple episodes that tackles race in an interesting way.
And also, it's tongue-in-cheek lewd at times (paraphrased):
> POLICE OFFICER: "Dick, are you ready to finger your perp?"
> DICK [SITTING NEXT TO DR. MARY ALBRIGHT]: "Well I've been trying to but she won't let me!"
Anyway, just wanted to share my opinion here and see if anyone remembered this show or had rewatched eps lately and had anything they wanted to add. We'll see how the rest of the seasons hold up as I go on :)
Nine year old me would never again have it so good. Can you believe I thought that this was 'normal' for television? Every day of the week my family would have at least one legendary top tier show to watch. Some nights, we had 'blocks' of 2-3 shows in a row. I long for that time.
Can you imagine watching Babylon 5 on one channel, then switching to Deep Space Nine, then getting sodas to hunker down for SeaQuest DSV? And the 'pop shows' like 3rd Rock From the Sun and Early Edition were STILL nominally science fiction! Beyond Reality reruns! Are You Afraid of the Dark late night on Snick! AHHHHHHHHH!
I can't remember the details anymore but I distinctly remember some insane Friday night lineup that went Sliders -> (space show) -> Stargate and I was like huh this TV thing is pretty good! What's this new show? DEXTER'S LAB? Love it! On Cartoon Network? Goku and friends go to Planet Namek! Seems normal for an anime, right? After all, every single other show is sci fi! And the last seasons of the Adventures of Pete & Pete and Tales from the Crypt...
Just recently getting into this show and wanted to say how amazing it is. Jon Lithgow is just a masterpiece, plain and simple. So talented and obscure and hilarious. JGL, for his age at the time - same. And seeing Lithgow in scenes with Ian Lithgow (Leon), who's his son in real life, is it's own special thing. Everybody in the show is fantastic. Only on the first season, but I just wanted to share my appreciation with some people who I felt might understand it, even if I am a little (25 years?) behind the times...
Stay safe out there guys.
It might be a 2 parter episode too. I remember one of the joke is when they're trying to acclimate him to earth Harry, Joseph Gorden-Levitt, says to him, "When people ask you what time it is you don't say, 'Time to die'.
The Solomans are back! This time the lead is the love child from Vicky & the Big Giant Head. He's come to Earth to attend college. Harry & Sally return as his security on the planet along with a 4th character named Bill or Billy. I'm not sure about whether Officer Don would be included.
There is an added layer though. Dick & Tommy are also on Earth but no one has seen them in years. This would lead to eventual guest spots by John Lithgow & Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Jane Curtain would reprise her role but only a few times a season. Same with Nina.
I think this show would work. Someone feel free to steal the idea. All I ask for is a producer credit lol
Just like Gilmore girls they could make a new season where they all come back and Dick(John Lithgow) thinks he's gonna have to win Mary(Jane Curtin) over again but instead she ended up remembering everything and got put into a mental ward. Hilarity ensues.
good thing putlocker had it.
I just finished binge-watching it on Netflix, and I'm glad to see this sub getting some more traction, so what the hell?
