1st Mountain Division death notice, killed prior to the Acqui Massacre, Cephalonia, 1943
I found this prayer card in a pile of period German Catholic death notices. He is wearing the uniform of a enlisted man. Especially interesting is the date and location of his death. He died on the Island of Cephalonia on September 17th 1943. The massacre of many Italian troops in the Acqui Division occurred just a few days later. I suspect he is a member of the 98th GebirgsjΓ€ger Regiment.

WW1, 33rd Austro-Hungarian Infantry Division.
I'm somewhat adept at historical research but have come to a brick wall when it comes to this. I know at least two of my Great-Great-Grandparents both served in WW1 in this division so after reaching a deadend, can anyone can give me some insight into this divison.
I already know about it's actions in 1914-1915 and in the Brusilov Offensive, as well as the leadership under Ferdinand Ritter Goglia von Zlota Lipa. Also know they served on the Italian Front, especially at Piave due to anecdotes passed down from my Grandfather.
