A list of puns related to "2014 World Series"
Justin Verlander won with Houston in 2017, David Price and Rick Porcello won with Boston in 2018, and Max Scherzer and Anibal Sanchez won with Washington in 2019. Theae 5 starters were Detroit's starting rotation from July-October 2014, and failed to win the World Series. Scherzer and Porcello left for Washington and Boston in the offseason, Price was traded to Boston mid-2015, Verlander was famously traded in 2017, and Anibal Sanchez was a walking corpse before resuscitating his career in Atlanta in 2018.
The 5 average out to 160.4 wins, 2173.8 Ks, 1.4 Cy Youngs (Sanchez is the only member who never won the award) and 43.5 career bWAR among themselves. Fangraphs actually really likes Porcello in particular a lot more than BBRef. Using fWAR, the 5 have 231.7 WAR, of 46.34/pitcher.
Scherzer leads with 3 Cy Youngs, Verlander follows with 2, and Porcello and Price have 1 each
Congratulations Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez and the Washington Nationals on winning the 2019 World Series!

In 2006 they beat the Yankees and athletics to go to the world series and then again in 2012. They beat those teams 3 times a piece in their 11 playoff series in that span, never losing to either.
However they were unable to win any series against any other team. In fact, they have not beat a team in the playoffs that were not the Yankees or athletics since 1984 when they beat the Padres to win the world series.
2014 - Giants (NL West)
2015 - Royals (AL Central)
2016 - Cubs (NL Central)
2017 - Astros (AL West)
2018 - Red Sox (AL East)
2019 - Nationals (NL East)
The .gif is an typical office scene where the focus is on a guy who is celebrating by slapping his hands together then punches the air in front of him.
Anytime a run was scored or something good happened for the Royals people would spam that .gif.
I would appreciate it anyone could tell me the show and actor.
Iβve written 25 cover stories as a senior writer for SI, but none has been received like the one dated June 30, 2014. That was the one that pegged the Houston Astros β then the worst baseball team in half a century β as YOUR 2017 WORLD SERIES CHAMPS. People thought I was crazy. That we were crazy. You know what happened next.
In my new (and first) book, ASTROBALL, I dive deep into how the once maligned Astros made good on our prediction. Drawing upon years of unprecedented access to a modern sports team, I reveal how the Astrosβ novel team-building methods β techniques that represent a quantum leap from those used by the Moneyball-era Oakland Aβs β lifted them from the cellar, and tell the stories of the people who did it, including a NASA rocket scientist-turned-baseball analytics guru. For years, the question baseball teams asked themselves was, Are we a people-driven team, or a data-driven team? The Astrosβ answer: we are both. Essentially, they figured out how to get the best out of both man and machine, at the same time.
In fact, in a world drowning in data, the Astros might serve as a model of how to properly use it not just for other sports teams, but for any industry: finance, healthcare, education, politics. Looking forward to answering your questions about the book, the Astros, baseball, writing and book publishing, my personal journey, or anything else. Have at it, and you can order the book here! http://prh.com/astroball

Hi, reddit! I'm Alan Eustace and I'm here with Jerry Kolber. We're the subject and director, respectively, of the documentary 14 MINUTES FROM EARTH, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April of this year and was released On Demand this past Tuesday. Jerry's film documented the process by which I broke the world record for high-altitude jump in 2014 at the age of 57 when I dropped from a gas-powered balloon 135,000 feet above the earth. Check out the film's trailer!
The plan began as a scribble on a paper napkin and took three years of working in secrecy to come to fruition. In 2011 I began working with Taber MacCallum and Jane Poynter, co-founders of Paragon Space Development Corporation, to bring the plan to life. Because a private citizen cannot simply purchase a space suit from NASA, we also worked with ILC Dover, outfitters of every United States astronaut in the Apollo program.
Jerry Kolber, the film's Executive Producer and Director, is the co-creator and show runner of the Emmy-nominated series "Brain Games" on National Geographic, and has created, produced, and served as showrunner on many other award-winning scripted and un-scripted series. Learn more about his work.
Ask us anything about the jump or the film! We'll be online at 2:00pm EST to answer your questions.
Edit: Thanks for all of your great questions! To learn more about the mission, check out 14 MINUTES FROM EARTH on any of these VOD platforms:
Very steady trend downward. Reminds me of the 2009-2013 Phillies.
A handful of players have been on losing WS teams, but Strickland is the only one with a ring. This is a hungry team. Gonna be fun regardless of who wins the ALCS.
Have any questions about the parade tomorrow? CLICK ME! AND CLICK ME TOO!
Things to discuss:
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. TROLL THE WOOOOOOOOORLD!
Hangovers suck.
World Champions gear/merch/stuff/swag/etc., available while supplies last at most sporting goods stores. I gotta get me one of them sweet white caps that they rocked last night.
No more baseball until February... PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT IN 100-SOMETHING DAYS
Looming offseason + free agency (Pablo please stay).
No seriously, hangovers suck.
The fact that Dan Uggla is getting a ring.
Parade. Woo! Hopefully Bochy's car doesn't run out of gas this time.
Will Jake Peavy really buy a cable car to go with his 2013 duck boat?
Anything else, really. I mean, who am I to tell you what you can and can't talk about?
Seriously though. Fuck hangovers.
5th straight year NBA Finals will have more viewers than the WS.
@darrenrovell Game 2 TV Viewers: 2014 NBA Finals (15M), 2013 World Series (13.4M), 2014 Stanley Cup Final (6.4M)
But K.C. wins this time. Mahomes commands it and will be victorious in bring the Lombardi back home. Words and words and words because you know, words and stuff. Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, Watkins, Hardman, Clark, Jones, Kpass, Dirty Dan, Honey Badger...essentially the 22 death squad. Need more words...Iβm so excited. My wife is tired of my reddit time already.
MESSAGE FROM /U/NATRONE011 BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU
I know that many of you, like myself, will be imbibing copious quantities of alcohol if/when the Royals win tonight. Have a plan to get home/find somewhere to crash that DOES NOT INVOLVE YOU DRIVING A CAR. Fuck the Budweiser commercial and fuck your dog, I don't care if he's sad. What'll be worse is if your stupidity results in another human life being affected. I know this (hopefully) goes without saying for everyone, but still: have a plan, and stick to it. Now then, on to the show!
First pitch @ 7:07 PM CDT, KCMO
Escobar (6)
Aoki (9)
Cain (8)
Hosmer (3)
Butler (DH)
Gordon (7)
Perez (2)
Moustakas (5)
Infante (4)
Jeremy Guthrie vs. Tim Hudson on the mound, though the hooks will come quickly from both Ned Yost and Bruce Bochy.
Game 7. Just....man.
Take the crown.
LET'S GO ROYALS!!!!!
Their 2015 first round draft pick just went absolutely nuts in the AFL Championship.
If there is any silver lining around Fowler not coming back (assuming he signs elsewhere), it's that we can safely bet that the scouting department will almost certainly draft a stud with the compensation pick they will receive.
We are doing a donation bet with /r/SFGiants through /r/CharitableBets. Minimum $10 donation.

First pitch @ 7:00 PM CDT, Kansas City, MO
Same song, different verse lineup:
Pitcher: James Shields
Final 25 man roster here. For some reason, Jayson Nix is the reserve infielder instead of Christian Colon. That makes absolutely no sense.
I'm not convinced this hasn't been some kind of cruel and extraordinarily elaborate dream. Kauffman Stadium is about to host the first two games of the 2014 World Series. Seriously. It's happening. 4 more wins to go.
Take the crown and LET'S GO ROYALS!!!
With it being Christmas week, business is slow so I've pretty much been doing very little work this week lol
Put on game 7 tonight.... it never gets old
I still get chills watching the gate open and seeing Bumgarner come out the door.... or in the top of the 9th when they show no one warming up in the bullpen
and then of course the Bumgarner and Posey hug and Posey collapsing to the ground shortly after
No matter what happens in 2018 and going forward, I'll never get tired of watching these old games and the 3 titles they won
