A list of puns related to "19th Glaad Media Awards"
Was anyone else kind of disapointed in the gleeks in the chat?
I apologised on glee fans behalf twice while watching I was so embarrased. Like, I know we were there for Naya (and that the WynonnaEarpers were just as bad) but she wouldn't have wanted us to just Spam the chat, not talk about the nominees, or, in some cases, downright disrespect them...
I was there for Naya, originally, but I was also there to support my community. (which Naya would have wanted, being the amazing Ally she was.)
I felt seen while I watched the awards, I found out about more Queer media I had no idea about. I've been really isolated during this past year (and even before that thanks to losing my job and falling into a depressive episode) so I haven't interacted with many people in my commmunity and I'd felt like I was slipping away from it a bit - but this whole awards show, focusing on LGBTQ+ people? It woke me up. I honestly teared up multiple times, and not just during the tribute (where I honestly sobbed).
I have a feeling most of you on here were respectful. I have a feeling most of you on here felt the same way I did about the spam. The bees were cute, and nice, but the constant 'Where's Glee' and 'I'm only here for Naya' felt wrong. Naya would have wanted us to be there for her, yes, but also to support the Awards, to learrn about new shows, new artists, new movies. She would have wanted us to be respectful, and to be good Allies if we weren't a part of the community.
The constant 'I'm only here for Naya' made me feel... I'm not sure, but maybe something like annoyed, something like angry, something like sad. (I only had 5 hours of sleep and haven't finished my coffee yet, words are hard) GLAAD is all about raising awareness, and I felt like a lot of people in the chat weren't there for that, or didn't seem to understand the importance of all the work GLAAD does.
I know, it made me feel slightly overlooked and invisible. yes, we were there for Naya, but we should have also all been there to support the LGBTQ+ community as well, because Naya would have wanted that.
That being said the tribute, however short lived, was beautiful, and I thank Jenna for putting it together so last minute (at least I think it was last minute, please correct me if I'm wrong).
RIP Naya, and I'm sorry for how some of your fans acted xxx <3
(sorry for this rant, I just needed to vent about this)
Been feeling a bit bummed out lately, so I wanted to share one of those meet-and-greet stories that never fail to cheer me up :)))
(You can read the whole thing here, since I edited out a handful of paragraphs that didn't include Naya. Also just a little context on the writer, she was on AfterEllen (back when it was still the media outlet to get all the hot news about queer women in media, and a couple of years before it got taken over by transphobic POS and subsequently tanked) and she used to review/liveblog Glee (mostly the Santana/Brittany/Brittana parts, given the nature of the website). She, along with Heather Hogan, were some of my favorite recap writers at the time, and they were utterly enchanted by Naya and her portrayal of Santana.)
Anyway, back to her actual post :))

Waiting along a red (well, in this case blue) carpet rope line is a strange thing. You wait, and you wait, and then you wait some more. And then, all of a sudden, people youβve seen on TV appear before you. Itβs really quite bizarre. Like, hey, thatβs Mario Lopez. Or, wait, is that Tabatha Coffey. And then your heart about stops dead in your chest because, oh my sweet heavenly God, ITβS NAYA FREAKING RIVERA.
But, I just might be getting ahead of myself. For those who donβt know, I covered the GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco for AfterEllen.com over the weekend. Naya Rivera was the host and Sara Ramirez was a presenter. βSex and the Cityβ star Kim Cattrall and βThe Kids Are All Rightβ director Lisa Cholodenko won awards. And I was there for the whole thing. I know, such a terrible gig.
So there I was with Iβd guess about 20 to 25 other media outlets β some were photo services, some were for video outlets and many for online publications. Every outlet gets a spot on the carpet marked by one plain white sheet of paper. Luckily, not all the press showed up so my photographer and I didnβt actually have to squeeze ourselves into the size of an 8x10 sheet of paper. We had about two pieces of paper worth of space instead. (p.s. I took this crappy shot, clearly.)

As soon as one of the celebrities stepped on the carpet it was flashbulbs and the event publicist going down the line asking which outlet wanted intervie
... keep reading on reddit β‘In honor of the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards' tribute to Naya, I thought I'd highlight her time working with GLAAD.
Many might already be aware that Naya hosted the GLAAD Media Awards on two separate occasions, in 2011 and 2012. For the 22nd Awards she hosted the San Francisco show and talked about her experience, up to that point, playing a lesbian on TV.
In 2012, for the 23rd Awards, she co-hosted with Cory in New York. That same year, Dianna hosted the San Francisco portion.
βI am here to tell you that playing gay is good in every way.β
Liam Gillin also wrote a tribute to Naya and her portrayal of Santana for GLAAD back in July, where several activists talk about what she meant to them.
This tribute the cast is reuniting for is going to break my heart but I'm very gla(a)d that they continue to honor Naya's legacy, especially through an organization that she herself endorsed and one that always acknowledged the importance of her work.
I absolutely love the fact that Brooklyn Nine Nine is not just funny, but extremely good at talking about the current and/or historical political issues.
'Moo moo' is without a doubt one of my favorite episodes of the series. So I was wondering are there any other shows that do the same thing? You know, retain the comedic nature of the show but still being able to educate/show us the various issues faced by people these days.
If you guys could suggest anything, I'd be really grateful. Thank you :)
The show is up for Best Comedy series one last time. There are 9 other nominees but only 1 or 2 of them have any chance of usurping Schitt's Creek
