I got fired after 20+ seasons and like five national championship wins and 10 appearances due to a 7-6 season but I won a bowl game 😭
Since 2008, Alabama is 84-5 at home. The five teams that beat them had a combined 63-6 record, three SEC championships, three Heisman winning quarterbacks, three national coach of the year award winners, and two BCS/CFP national championships.
I've been doing one of these posts every year since like 2017, figured I might as well update it after their 5-0 record last season.
Since Saban's second year in 2008, Alabama has a 84-5 home record. In those 13 seasons, the five teams that have beaten them in Tuscaloosa:
- 2010 Auburn. Finished 14-0, ranked #1 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, won the BCS national championship, and Cam Newton won the Heisman. Chizik was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (Home Depot, Bear Bryant, and now-defunct Liberty Mutual).
- 2011 LSU. Finished 13-1, ranked #2 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, and of course lost the national championship rematch game to Bama. Miles was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Home Depot, and now-defunct Liberty Mutual).
- 2012 Texas A&M. Finished 11-2, ranked #5 in the AP poll, won the Cotton Bowl, and Johnny Manziel won the Heisman.
- 2015 Ole Miss. Finished 10-3, ranked #10 in the AP poll, and won the Sugar Bowl.
- 2019 LSU. Finished 15-0, ranked #1 in the AP poll, won the SEC Championship, won the Peach Bowl semifinal, won the CFP national championship, and Joe Burrow won the Heisman (along with pretty much every other award possible). Orgeron was recognized by multiple awards as the Coach of the Year (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Home Depot, Bear Bryant, and Eddie Robinson).
Those five teams beat a combined nine P5/AQ conference champions. Alabama lost those five games by an average margin of 4 points.
This year, Alabama's home slate is Mercer, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, New Mexico State, and Arkansas.
