Nelson Piquet overlooks the BMW M12/13 Turbo that won him the 1983 championship with Brabham. This 4-cylinder 1.5L engine is widely regarded as one of the most powerful in F1 history as it produced 1300-1400hp in qualifying mode but could only last for a single hot lap before needing to be replaced.

Besides the Mavericks, no remaining team has won a championship since 1983.

It's looking very likely that we're going to get a relatively new champion. Philly last won in '83, Milwaukee won in '71, and none of the other remaining teams (Utah, Phoenix, Denver, LA Clippers, Brooklyn, Atlanta) have won NBA titles at all.

From 1980-2018, the same 8 teams won all but a couple championships. Many of us grew up watching the Bulls, Spurs, Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Pistons, Warriors and Rockets win over and over. We've gotten some new blood recently with Toronto and Cleveland. But I'll always feel stoked for a new-ish champ.

Also worth noting that only Philly has multiples titles with twothree. Milwaukee and Dallas have one each and that's it. I would bet there's never been a final eight with fewer titles between the remaining teams. Crazy times we live in!

Since 1983 every team left in the playoffs has only won one championship combined

1983 was the 76ers third (second in Philly) and most recent championship.

Since then the 76ers, Bucks, Nets, Jazz, Suns, Nuggets, and Hawks all haven't won a championship.

The only championship won by a remaining team was the legendary 2011 title won by the Mavericks

All of the remaining Western Conference teams are still looking for their first NBA championship, while the none of the remaining Eastern Conference teams has won a title since 1983.

We are about to get some much needed parity in the Finals this year, as everyone is looking for their first championship in at least a few decades, or even their first appearance. In addition, of all the remaining squads:

  • Two teams have never reached the Finals (Nuggets, Clippers)
  • Two had their most recent title runs cut short by Michael Jordan's Bulls (Jazz, Suns)
  • One team's only title was in another city (Hawks)
  • One team's only titles were in the ABA (Nets)
  • The remaining teams haven't won since 1971 (Bucks) or 1983 (76ers).

So here's to the league being un-screwed.

Jeopardy! National College Championship will be held in Winter 2022 or Summer 2022 on ABC?

Last January 2021, Thursdays were introduced by new game shows like Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, The Chase & The Hustler that aired on ABC.

But by January 2022, Thursday at 8 PM will be occupy by the limited series Women Of The Movement unless there will be schedule change.

So what could be the possible schedule for Jeopardy! National College Championship? 5-7 day continuous event like GOAT or weekly show that could possibly paired up with second half The Chase Season 2 (8 remaining episodes)?

Either it will be on Sunday or Tuesday nights if J! NCC will air in winter 2022, since Monday is reserved for The Bachelor & additional airing of American Idol?

Every team that won a championship more recently than 1983 was eliminated in round 1 (or didn't make the playoffs)

Look back at the winners by decade.

2010s: Lakers, Mavs, Heat, Spurs, Cavs, GS, Raptors

2000s: Lakers, Spurs, Detroit, Heat, Celtics

1990s: Detroit, Bulls, Rockets, Spurs

1980s: Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, Detroit

1970s: Knicks, Bucks, Lakers, Celtics, GS, Portland, Washington, Seattle

1960s: Celtics, 76ers

1950s: Minneapolis, Rochester, Syracuse, Philadelphia Warriors, Celtics, St. Louis

1940s: Philadelphia Warriors, Baltimore, Minneapolis

Lakers, Mavs, Heat, and Celtics were the only champions more recent than the early 80s. And most people would have said the Lakers were the only ones with a realistic shot at a title of those 4.

So there was a really good chance going into these playoffs that the drought would end for one eventual winner. Especially with an injured Lakers team.

Note: title fixed from earlier post
