If any team other than the Sixers win it all this year, it will the first time that team has won a title since at least the NBA-ABA merger in 1976. In fact, the only currently contending franchises to have won an NBA title at all are the Sixers, Bucks, and the former St. Louis Hawks. The Nets have two ABA titles, but have not won since joining the NBA.
The Sixers last appeared in the finals in 2001, the Jazz in 98, the Suns in 93, the Bucks in 74, and the Hawks in 61.
The Clippers have never made the third round let alone a finals appearance . The Denver Nuggets have also never made the finals and that streak will continue this year.
This goes to show how difficult it is to win it all in a league where two franchises account for more than half the titles combined. It will be a long time coming to whoever comes out on top.
