A list of puns related to "1975 Ipsc Handgun World Shoot"
After years of shooting rifles, finally thought it was time to try something a little bit different. I know quite a bit about rifles but the first to admit I don't know very much about handguns. I've shot some range handguns and of course prefer a handgun that has a some weight to it over one that's light... any feedback on which handguns redditors like and why? Of course personal preference plays a big part .
Hey folks,
Recently got into IPSC and while I think my fundamentals are okay, I think they could be a lot better. I'd rather solidify them before I start doing a lot of training not to get into bad habits. Could you guys please chime in with recommended readings or watchings that you found were helpful with IPSC style shooting? This could become a good list of resources for anyone.
Cheers
So basically did some steel challenge competitions (2) and one knockdown steel competition. Iβm loving it, and now I want to start think about gear. I am running a blue alpha gear duty belt, safari land ubl (I think?) mid ride holster drop, and then run various TRex arms and Safariland holsters. I was told in my most recent competition (where I did pretty well if I may say so myself!) that if I wanted to bring it to the next level I need to make sure my holster fits the rules of USPSA/Steelchallenge and that the grip of my gun is at belt level (is that correct?).
I also plan on building a 16β PCC for competition - as I can use Others locally but I was told thatβs not the case for bigger competitions.
Finally, whatβs the deal with major/minor scoring and whatβs a good handgun to consider for major scoring? Letβs assume a cap of 1500 and then the gucci handgun for major scoring. Currently bouncing between a Sig P226 Legion, a CZ-75 Shadow Target II (which I didnβt enjoy shooting in competition tbh), and a Sig P320 Scorpion AXG/X5 Legion that Iβm waiting to run through its paces
So basically the list of questions are:
What holster and magazine pouches should I consider for competition? Specifically thinking about those pouches that people angle all over the place and those holsters that literally just seem to be a trigger guard and peg for the barrel
whatβs a good start for PCC building? The one I have currently accepts glock magazines so Iβd like to make another one that accepts glock magazines
whatβs some good handgun research I can do for handguns that I can use for major scoring?
Hei guys,I am just getting started at Practical shooting and interested in the Production / Production Optics division, I am looking for help to get started with a first hand gun.In the country where I live, we cannot purchase a handgun before 2 years of consistent and regular practice in a shooting club.So before that I will have to practice and learn with a borrowed pistol and I want to make a good choice to start as I need to buy the matching holster for it that I will keep. Of course as a beginner, I get excited by the amount of choices there is on the market, but I want to make a choice that makes sense and practice with a gun I like to make it more fun too.Which hand gun would recommend to start with? polymer, metal? CZ, Glock, Beretta, or something else?
One of my friends told to start with a handgun that is easy. I don't really know what it means in practice.Thank you for your guidance.
Unless I missed it I didn't see anybody talking about this. I'm not sure there's enough neck beard competition shooters here to make this get legs and be interesting but here are the results from the world shoot

So there are a couple things I want to bring up about it.
Production division β Ben Stoeger wins production division by less than half a match point β not a percentage β but half a match point. On 30 stages. Amazing. His closest competitor β Pavel Torgashav actually beats him in combined overall. I understand why this happens but itβs always amusing when it does β by 1.2 match points. In the shoot off Ljubisa Momcilovic actually beats Ben.
Women in competition shooting β this is a favorite β is there a physical disparity for being a woman in the shooting sports that handicaps performance. Maria G shot 98% of Ben in production - which is incredible β less than 2% under Ben. This suggests that women can compete on the level with Ben in my mindβ¦ until you go to the next highest rated woman in production at 74% and #116. Itβs supported by Standard division where high lady falls at #78 / 72%, in open #47 / 80%, and in classic #56 / 73%. Data suggests that they are capable of running with the top heat BUT generally donβt β for whatever reason. At the top of the game on average it seems to be worth 15%-20% if you average the top 10 on a % of match points in a division to High Lady in a given division.
Eric G beat Vogel by 2.7%. That seems like a small number but compared to other divisions it seems to be a larger margin (1.5% in Open, .02% in Production, 1.6% in Classic). What makes matters even more interesting β Nil Jonasson (2) and Shane Coley (1) BOTH beat Eric G (3) in the Standard shoot off. I donβt know anything about the IPSC shoot offs, but thatβs an interesting data point.
Russia is making a big push to unseat USA as top heat on an international stageβ¦
This is a weird one but I suspect it will need an official standard (maybe there is one and I'm not aware of it) - given the apparent disparity between male and female shooters - where do trans competitors fall on this? Recognize them as Lady but not eligible for High Lady? Not trying to get political on this but speak purely to the competitive equity of males competing with females and there are financial incentives to lock up "High Lady" berths. I can see this being an issue by
I finally decided to start leveling up my handgun points. I have a hard time to stop shooting with the crossbow, it is addicting. Anyway...
Can you handgun experts give my some tips. How to aim and where?
If I sit on my tripod and a buffalo is close, below me. Like 10-50 m away. Should I am higher or lower?
Thanks!
