I have a question, on 24th of August in central Italy there was a big 6.2M earthquake that killed over 200 people. After that earthquake on 11th of September in Skopje Macedonia there was an 5.3M earthquake. They say they are somehow connected but they are 680km away from Skopje.

Now there is again series of earthquakes in central italy another over 6M earthquakes and Macedonian seismologist say there may be earthquakes in Skopje... 680km away and acticate earthquake here? They say this is something new for central italy and some hudge tectonic plate is moving...is that all true or they are only guessing

[EVENT] Earthquake in Skopje

On July 26, 1963 a series of massive earthquakes shook Skopje, the capital city of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia. The first quake occurred at 5:17 in the morning, lasting approximately 20 seconds as the quake (measured at 9.0 on the Mercalli scaleβ€”equivalent to 6.9 on the Richter scaleβ€”by seismological stations throughout Yugoslavia) tore through the city, destroying approximately 80 percent of the buildings in the city.

Even more grave than the massive damage done to the city though was the human cost. Over 1,000 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the quake, with between 3,000 and 4,000 injured, and more than 200,000 people were instantly made homeless as their homes were destroyed.

Tremors from the earthquake were felt some 90 miles along the Vardar valley, and the city's hospitals quickly filled to the breaking point as medical supplies and blood plasma quickly ran out, necessitating urgent shipments from elsewhere in Yugoslavia.

The city's main railway station was destroyed as was the post office, cutting off all communication with the outside world. In a message of condolence sent immediately after the tragedy, President Tito said: "Together with all the peoples of Yugoslavia we will endeavor to mitigate the misfortune that has befallen your republic."

The Yugoslav government has proclaimed a state of emergency and all federal government resources in the area have been mobilized to provide disaster relief.

Macedonia, Skopje M2.7 two earthquakes only 30 seconds apart same magnetude. How is that possible?

The location is the same as the one 5.4M from September 2016. Yesterday there was an M5 in Albania and we felt it here 100km away. Is it possible this to be an aftershock from september or that in Albania yesterday woke up the earth again here? It is interesting that we feel 2.2M and up but this 2.7 was on the same location as the old ones from september but we didnt felt s thing only a noise πŸ€”
