From 1949 - 1966, every World Series featured a New York team or a former New York team.

Brooklyn/LA Dodgers, New York/SF Giants, New York Yankees all took turns playing in the WS during that span. 8 of those World Series featured 2 New York/former New York teams. Talk about rivalries, these 3 teams dominated baseball from 1949 until 1966.

Fun fact: the New York Mets won their first WS 3 years later in 1969.

1949 Yankee/Dodger World Series Pennant

I found this while cleaning out my Dad's workshop. I know its not in good shape and I don't plan on getting rid of it but I was just curious if it was rare or anything. I tried Googling it but did not find anything that was exactly like it. There is a little metal football attached at one end.

1949 World Series Video

So I just found out that my great uncle threw out the first pitch at one of the games of the World series in 1949. He is from Brooklyn and had some great stories about the players like Gil Hodges, Jackie, Pee Wee Reese. Listening to him tell stories about the game was awesome but I'd like to find video from the game to see him throw out the pitch. Does anyone know a good way to get video from this? Are there certain websites that I can go on to get this video? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

1949 Studebaker R Series Truck Help

I have two questions and I was hoping to see if any old timers had some answers.

First one should be easy and its related to the image. Every Stude Truck from this model seemed to have this dash MINUS the circular cut out about the wiring (Top middle hole). This hole contained a water Temperature gauge that obviously ran to the engine. I can see that is the correct spot for the temp gauge to sit on the engine but every other Truck dash has the gauge running to the instrument cluster. Weird right? That hole is obviously factory, way to smooth to be cut by an old farmer. Any ideas if this was possibly an early version of the dash in 49?

(Image of dash)
https://imgur.com/a/jWLYtfw

Second one is harder. We are having a hard time getting the engine to spin fast enough to get start up. Completely redone engine (Flathead 6). Starter Motor is new. New Battery, New Distributor. The odd thing is if we take out the spark plugs, it spins really well. Which makes us think it might be valves causing pressure? but the valves do seem to relieve themselves on a cylinder pressure check. Any ideas?
