Some claim the Van Eycks' Adoration of the Lamb (1452) is the most stolen artwork in history having been stolen in whole or part 7 times. Calvinists tried to burn it in 1566, Napoleon looted it in 1794. Germans took it in both WW1 and WW2. And one panel stolen in 1934 is still missing!

What if there was a referendum in 1949 in west Germany, and they voted to restore the German monarchy?
(This is a very unrealistic and unfeasible scenario. Please just go with the beginning prompt.)
In this timeline Britain, France and America are very terrified of west Germany going wrong. Especially the thought of them going communist. They fear that Germany will just collapse into another completely radical state.
So they look back to the relative stability of the German empire (in their eyes), as well as the Japanese monarch remaining on the throne. So they put Crown Prince Wilhelm on the throne after a referendum in the country similar to Italyβs, where thereβs a 60% pro monarchy vote. West Germany is now a constitutional monarchy like Britain.
What changes?
