Offline and more in person, there's Meetup.com, which has quite a few good social groups, including the one I'm part of - Young Professionals in Liverpool - We're 3,000 members strong and we do stuff like rock climbing and afternoon tea and watching the match, pub, nights out, karaoke and cinema. The age range is about 18-35, but there's also plenty of +40 year olds too. You should consider attending one of our events!

Trying to keep myself busy but it's hard to stave off the loneliness.

I feel bad asking this because it feels selfish...but I figured I'd ask just in case...I'm starting to get nervous as we move into December and closer to the holiday season when people are supposed to spending time with the people they love...

I think most people have a pretty decent bullshit detector. They’re never perfect, but given a long enough time to speak people will be able to tell if they’re being bullshitted to or not. I feel like the Democratic and Republican Parties are both horrible. There’s no such thing as a real debate on the debate stages, the news media is so obviously biased to a point of lying, and people are tired of being told what to do with their children regarding vaccines. I live in NYC, and I’m not saying there aren’t minority right wingers, but I definitely notice a lot more of them getting sick of the Democrats. The insanely fake and narcissistic sounding corporate propaganda just isn’t gonna work. I really doubt that it’s gonna last much longer than a few more years. There’s obviously not much better of an alternative in the Republicans, as they’re just as dishonest and tribalistic, however I would say a bit more genuine feeling which is why I believe they’re gonna end up winning 2024. But I think at the end of the day, Andrew Yang has a great idea in the Forward Party because, even if not everybody has noticed it yet, it basically feels like we’re entering a society of real people, real conversations, and real attempts at finding an answer vs corporate woke-ism and crony unfair capitalism with rules that are terrible for everyday people but great for large corporations.

It's just a business plan to get you hooked and watching more so they can profit by the fake misery they had you think you're going through. Don't be fooled. Enjoy your alone time and be comforted by the fact that not having a SO is actually better than the 2/3 of your relationships anyway.

...at least I have my secular Jewish family to be lonely with. Maybe we'll go out for some Chinese food. I'll eat a dumpling for reddit.

I am one of three employees including the boss, he does direct deposits. I know when I go in Monday and ask about it, it will be the usual, "oh, I did it but..". Just a mild annoyance. Wanted to hear any other stories of just forgetful or distracted small business owners.

My family all went to another country for a wedding, and for Christmas. I was all set to go with them but I had to bail at the last second to stay at my university, cause I'm taking the MCAT in January and had to study.

I really really fucking want to be a doctor so I decided to sacrifice time with my family (who I barely get to see as it is since i go to college in a different state), and stay at a deserted college by myself with my nose in a book.

My occasional toke definitely kept the loneliness at bay for a while but damn Christmas Day has been hard. A buddy of mine invited me to his house for Xmas dinner which was incredibly nice of him, but I still can't help but feel like his family wanted me there out of pity, and not because they really wanted me around.

Anyways sorry for the rant. Make sure you all appreciate your families, regardless of their personalities, regardless of their opinion on weed, regardless of their political beliefs. They're all you have and they'll be gone before you know it, so let them know you appreciate them.
